February 2023 – Depression, Anxiety & Sleep

In February, our topics are DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, and SLEEP.  Depression is a topic that is very near and dear to my heart.  There is always a need, but it seems that at this time of year there is a particular need for things to combat depression and anxiety.  Sleep can be a very important piece to fighting this battle.  I have tried to pick the products that have been the most helpful to me over the years and I hope these things will help you as well.

BeMine Essential Oil Blend

LeBeMine Essential Oil Blend

LeBeMine has long been a favorite for this time of year.  For the last several years, they have had a very limited amount available because of the worldwide vanilla shortage.  I am thrilled to see this wonderful blend available again.

This oil has a sweet citrus smell with a rich creamy vanilla base note.  The high notes of citrus in LeBeMine add happiness and cheer to this blend while the Vanilla CO2 and Benzoin add stability and deep contentment with its warm, welcoming, velvety richness.  It is a very grounding blend, bringing feelings of peace, joy, and contentment.  It is one of my favorite oils for Depression (LeHeartSong is my absolute favorite).  LeBeMine promotes feelings of love and gratitude for our partners, making it a great oil to add to those special moments with your Valentine.

It is one of my favorite oils for alone time or what I like to call “me time” in the bathtub.  LeSegoLily is my very favorite for this, but BeMine is a nice change sometimes.

February can often be a hard time of year for wintertime depression and LeBeMine was blended with the intent to help you see that spring is just around the corner and that you have support from all of nature’s wonderful remedies.  It is an excellent blend to diffuse to help set a loving, positive, and hopeful atmosphere in your home.

The essential oils in this blend are great antimicrobial oils, and bacteria does not become resistant to benzoin, so this blend is an excellent choice for use as a natural antiseptic.  LeBeMine supports the immune system and “melts” away blockages in the lungs, lymphatic vessels, and intestines.  It helps you to have more stable emotions and promotes cell regeneration.  LeBeMine can help to balance the hormones and remove free radicals from the body.

New Natural Forces Essences

Natural Forces Essences Blessed Waters

I am super excited about these 19 new Blessed Waters.  Let’s start by learning a little bit about what they are and how they are made.

Natural Forces are energetic preparations that capture the healing capacities of the location in which they were collected.  Like all Blessed Water preparations, the Natural Forces act, first, on the structures of the energetic body, and secondly, on the physical body.  In doing so, they balance and harmonize every aspect of our emotions and mental capacities as well.

Natural Forces Essences Blessed Waters are made from places or events in nature.  The four elements of nature—water, earth, fire, and air—nourish all living things.  These remedies provide the energy we need to make and sustain change at the center of our beings.  There are 19 of them and putting all the information about each would make this a very long blog.  Instead, I will list them and link each one to more information about it.  There is a coupon code that will work through February, if you decide to add all 19 to your collection you can save 15% on the collection by using the code NaturalForces.

Augustine Volcano

Mount Augustine is part of a chain of volcanic islands along a trench where the Pacific Plate is being subducted under the North American Plate.  This area is called the Aleutian Megathrust.  The Augustine Volcano is one of Alaska’s most active volcanoes.  The last eruption, in 2006, is said to have been caused by a clogged conduit (whatever that means).  I found that phrase and the naming of the area ‘Megathrust’ interesting in light of the characteristics of this remedy.  Learn More

Bog

The bog where this remedy was made is a semi-swampy area in Alaska.  This type of bog is not usually fed by a lake, stream, or natural well but is the result of rainfall.  Such swamps form because permafrost, clay, or bedrock prevent water drainage.  These bogs are generally home to a rich diversity of plant and animal life! Learn More

Chalice Well

This essence was made with water from the Chalice Well Gardens of Glastonbury, England.  The water from this amazing well flows constantly at 25,000 gallons per day. (WOW!) It maintains a constant and consistent temperature of 52° Fahrenheit.  The water comes from deep within the earth and is not dependent on nor influenced by the forces of nature around it.  The spring has never been known to fail and during the dry years of 1921–22, this spring was the sole water source that saved the entire town and the populace from the drought.  The well’s construction is dated as pre-1184 AD because the stones used in its construction can be traced to an abbey of that time period.  Shards of Iron Age pottery alongside Roman and medieval shards suggest that there has been human activity around this water source even in antiquity.  Learn More

Full Moon Reflection

Kachemak Bay is a 40-mile-long arm of Cook Inlet located on the southwest side of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska.  Some interesting characteristics of this bay are first, there is no road access to the park located in the bay (Alaska’s only state wilderness park), so visitors must arrive by airplane or boat.  Second, the bay has a remarkably high level of biological activity due to its unique circulation patterns.  Surface water pushes nutrients into the bay, then ocean currents keep them in the bay or push them back into the bay should any nutrients try to escape.  The essence is made from reflected natural light off the waters of the Bay into the snow-filled canyon.  Light and holding on to nutrients, or physical and emotional issues, are keys to this remedy.  Learn More

Gigha Quartz

This stone is named for and prepared on the Isle of Gigha off the western coast of Scotland.  There is a quartz outcropping on the southwestern edge of the island that, in reality, runs through the island and emerges once again at the northwest tip of the island.  Learn More

Glacier River

This remedy was created from solarized water that had emerged from the base of the Gulkana glacier.  The water, due to its course, carries suspended particles (sediment) of ground-up rock as well as wind-blown sand and silt.  Learn More

Greenland Icecap

This remedy was made from solarized water on the Greenland ice sheet.  A study of the tectonic plates in this area is fascinating.  There is a great deal of energy as plates have converged (one plate sliding under the other) over eons of time.  Scientists believe that Iceland was pushed up into being as a result of this convergence.  British scientists have discovered a long and deep mega-canyon hidden under the ice that is up to 2 km (a bit over a mile) thick.  It is at least 750km (roughly 450 miles) long and up to 800m (about 1/2 mile) deep in places.  This is comparable in size to the Grand Canyon in North America.  The sub-glacial valley may also perform a valuable function in helping to stabilize the ice sheet as it probably acts as a fast pathway to drain melted water at the bed of the ice sheet into the ocean.  Learn More

Liard Hot Springs

The Liard Hot Springs is the second largest hot spring in Canada.  This remedy was prepared from the hot spring water on a cold winter day.  The temperature difference between air and water would have been quite extreme, as the water, even in winter, is between 108°–125° F.  In addition, the water of this spring has a very high mineral content.  The spring is surrounded by a warm water swamp with extremely lush plant life.  The swamp contains 40 acres of orchids, for example.  This area is referred to as a tropical valley.

Northern Lights

This remedy displays the energy of a swirling green display of Northern Lights during a subzero arctic night.  The energy of the Northern Lights is something that has to be experienced to be believed.  Learn More

Polar Ice

Prepared on the ice pack near the North Pole.  I can tell you from experience that the North Pole is a very cold place with very interesting energy!  Learn More

Portage Glacier

Portage Lake, where this essence was prepared, was created by runoff from Alaska’s Portage Glacier.  This Glacier has been receding since the early 1900s with average temperatures, even in the winter months, much higher than I thought before looking into it.  Interestingly, to me at least, the ice of this glacier has always been quite unstable with “calving” (the breaking off of the tip of the glacier into the lake formed at its base) being a common occurrence until the glacier no longer touched the lake shore.  Recent reports about this glacier indicate that, with the breaking away or melting of this glacier in the past, the remaining 5-mile-long glacier has stabilized.  Growth of the glacier is expected over the next century.  This, in my opinion, is reflected in the mental and physical attributes of this remedy.  Learn More

Redoubt Volcano

Although this is another volcano remedy in this set, this remedy’s energy is very different from the Augustine Volcano remedy.  This remedy was made during the 2009 eruption of the Redoubt Volcano in south-central Alaska.  It seems to have embodied the energy of fear and anxiety that are part of being anywhere near a volcanic eruption or the series of earthquakes that may accompany such an event.  In addition, volcanic ash presents a unique set of challenges.  These challenges are also reflected in the energy of the remedy.  Learn More

Rock Springs

This essence was prepared using water from a unique spring high in the Talkeetna Mountains of central Alaska.  The water of this spring literally gushes out from the center of a sheer rock face.  From there, it cascades to a pool at the base of the rock formation.  Learn More

Solar Eclipse

Solar eclipses occur when the moon is positioned between the Earth and the sun, fully or partially blocking sunlight and earth’s view of the sun for a time; the moon is quite literally casting a shadow on the earth.  The moon, in many energetic philosophies, is said to represent womankind.  Thus, the connection with a person’s relationship to their mother or other females in their lives is quite pronounced.  The connection seems to be, predominantly, in relationship to overbearing female figures who demand to be the center of attention in someone or to have their opinions count more than the opinions of others to that someone, or than the opinions of the person themself.  The term “hen-pecked” comes to mind.  It must be remembered, however, that one’s personal perspective of others is not always accurate and, sometimes, is a reflection of oneself and not of them!  Learn More

Solstice Sun

The essence was prepared on a night in June as the midnight sun played along a mountain range in Alaska.  Light, with no period of darkness at all, cannot help but create very strong energetic patterns.  This brings to mind part of a saying that I love.  It is, “What of darkness? There is no darkness at all when one is standing in the light!”  Learn More

Stone Circle

Perfect, naturally occurring circles of stones cover the ground in many parts of Alaska.  This essence was prepared, energetically, in such a naturally occurring circle of stones.  Strangely, in other parts of the far north, stones arrange themselves in other striking patterns such as polygons, stripes, and even labyrinths.  Over the years, scientists have proposed various explanations for these unusual patterns of stones and soil.  There doesn’t seem to be a single explanation that accounts for the full range of unusual patterns.  The fact that this remedy was prepared in a circle will, of course, have affected the properties of this remedy.  Learn More

Tidal Forces

The tides of Kachemak Bay are extreme with an average vertical difference of 15 feet and recorded extremes of 31 feet.  The highest tide on record was over 25 feet! This remedy was prepared from both fresh and sea water on this Bay during a full 24-hour, 22-foot tidal cycle.  Learn More

Typhoon

This essence was, literally, made during a typhoon.  A typhoon, like a cyclone or a hurricane, is a wind with a violent circular movement that causes great destruction to anything in its path.  Learn More

Winter in August

This essence was made from melted snow after a very powerful storm on the Greenland ice sheet in the month of August.  There is another remedy made on this ice sheet in this collection.  However, this remedy seems to take its healing properties, not from the tectonic plates beneath the sheet as the other remedy does, but from the confusion of such a storm occurring in August rather than in mid-winter.  Storms at this time of year are a trifle unusual, even in Greenland.  Learn More

Vitamin D Supplement

Vitamin D-3 Supplement

Vitamin D is sometimes called the sunshine vitamin.  The body produces vitamin D when the skin is exposed to sunlight.  Vitamin D is also found, naturally, in a limited number of foods.  Some fish contain vitamin D.  Egg yolks are also a natural source of vitamin D.  If you shun the sun, or just don’t have time to play there, you may be experiencing a vitamin D deficiency.  Unfortunately, as people age, their kidneys may be less able to convert vitamin D to its active form.  This makes taking care of one’s kidneys very important, indeed.

Early symptoms of vitamin D deficiency include mild bone pain and muscle weakness.  The symptoms, unfortunately, are often subtle.  In addition, they are too often attributed to other causes and nothing is done to alleviate the vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamin D is absolutely essential for strong bones.  This is because vitamin D is necessary in order for the body to utilize calcium from dietary sources.  Vitamin D deficiency contributes to a host of unhealthy conditions.  Rickets, a bone disease caused by bone tissue failing to absorb minerals properly due to lack of vitamin D, leads to soft bones and skeletal deformities.  Low blood levels of vitamin D contribute to such things as increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease, cognitive impairment in elderly people, severe asthma in children, and cancer.

Some studies show that vitamin D may help eliminate the effects of depression.  There is much conflict on this but for me personally, I feel it has helped.

Depression, Anxiety & Sleep Blessed Waters

Depression, Anxiety & Sleep Blessed Waters

Sleep

This wonderful aid for getting a good night’s sleep should be beneficial for just about everyone because of the variety of symptoms found in the 5 homeopathic remedies it contains.  There is something for the person who cannot sleep due to pain, anxiety, or bad dreams; something for those recovering from illness, and those who feel a deep longing for sleep they cannot seem to achieve; there is even an ingredient for the very exhausted, who fall asleep at inappropriate times and in inappropriate places.

Insomnia #1

Like all homeopathic remedies, each ingredient in this combination has symptoms to be addressed from all over the body.  This remedy’s focus, where sleep is concerned, is more on restless sleep from dreams, night sweats (possibly from anemia), leg cramps, and nervous exhaustion from worry or extreme mental activity during the evening hours that will not cease and let the mind and body rest.

Insomnia #2

There are a total of 9 homeopathic remedies in this combination.  Each one of them, among their healing qualities, has effects on the nervous system.  It matters little to this remedy whether the trouble is difficulty falling asleep, waking frequently, tossing about restlessly or sensitivity to the environment in which they sleep.  There is even a remedy for nerve pain in the face such as might be keeping a teething child from sleeping well.

15 Flower Remedy

There are a total of 15 flower essences in this remedy.  Each one was picked for attributes that affect and stabilize emotions.  This is a great remedy to grab when you or someone you love is going through a difficult time or enduring emotional stress.

Depression, Anxiety & Sleep Oils

The three blends and three singles that were chosen for February are all helpful when dealing with anxiety, depression, and sleep issues.

GoodNite Essential Oil Blend

LeGoodNite is one of my favorite oils to diffuse at night, especially for children that are frightened or have frequent bad dreams.  I love it for myself too though.

Part of the reason that LeGoodNite promotes restful sleep is that it encourages feelings of peace.  We feel assured that all will be well in our world even though we are sleeping and not actively watching over it.

This blend seems to help us process, painlessly, deep emotions during our sleep.  In the morning we will be able to express our deep feelings about these emotions clearly and without the usual stress.

By soothing inflamed or swollen nasal and sinus passages while promoting deep and restful sleep, LeGoodNite is effective for insomnia and snoring.

HeartSong Essential Oil Blend

LeHeartSong was created as an anti-depressant blend and is still the #1 blend for use in the treatment of grief and mild depression.  LeHeartSong allows the heart to find its joy and learn to sing again.  This is a very high frequency spiritual and emotional blend that reminds us that we are loved and cherished by many people, and certainly by Heaven.

It has a multitude of uses.  LeHeartSong has been of great benefit in treating depression, and is also useful in overcoming grief and trauma.  Because it is a remedy for deep sorrow and grief, it makes a wonderful gift for anyone who has recently lost a loved one.

You do not need to be suffering from depression or a recent loss to enjoy LeHeartSong.  This blend is wonderful for getting through a tough time or just making it to the end of a difficult day.  It is also quite effective as a protection against negative energy that you might be picking up from others at home or on the job.

LeTranquility is the first line of defense against anxiety and panic attacks, but if it fails to work or needs a follow-up, LeHeartSong is the blend to use.  LeHeartSong is also helpful in stabilizing mood swings, relieving stress and tension, and helping one to relax.

Tranquility Essential Oil Blend

LeTranquility promotes relaxation, and relieves anxiety, stress, tension, and depression.  LeTranquility can help us to develop inner strength, patience, understanding, and confidence.

The aroma of LeTranquility has been known to reduce or eliminate panic attacks and other anxiety-based disorders.  This essential oil blend is the first thing you should reach for whenever someone is having a panic attack.  More times than not, LeTranquility will stop the attack completely.  This is a great blend for any type of anxiety disorder.

This blend is useful as a sleep aid, especially when the problem is “mind chatter” that just won’t quit.  Instead of sleeping, even though we need sleep badly, we lay there reviewing the past day in our minds or making plans for tomorrow.  LeTranquility helps us take a step back from a situation so that we may come to a fuller understanding of all aspects of the situation.  From this perspective we are usually able to see solutions to our dilemmas more easily.

Rose Geranium Essential Oil

Rose Geranium has quite a lovely aroma.  It is sweeter and lighter than Geranium.  It has an herbal undertone and a rosy overtone that Geranium lacks.  When diffused, Rose Geranium can help us feel joy in our journey.

Rose Geranium is a call to attention.  It requires us to analyze our lives, streamline them, and then enables us to do with joy those things that are required of us.  Rose Geranium soothes the nervous system.  It relieves depression and anxiety, making the world look like a much friendlier and supportive place.

One aspect of Rose Geranium is for emotional work with those who feel burdened by, or resentful of, the necessity to work so very hard.  This situation may be perception or reality.  Rose Geranium can benefit those who have found themselves in a real position of never ending work, with no rest, no pause, and maybe even with very little reward.

Grapefruit Pink Essential Oil

Grapefruit is uplifting to the mind and spirit.  It is hard to be negative or anxious in the presence of this oil, because it promotes feelings of joy, confidence, and spontaneity.

Grapefruit is a very joyous and positive essential oil.  It can be a ray of bright light guiding us out of darkness and depression.  Grapefruit is equally good for mental exhaustion and mental tension.  Grapefruit seems to address the emotional issues of self-worth and discontent with one’s body that are so often a part of anorexia and other eating disorders.

The aroma of Grapefruit is particularly suited to people who, when tense or under pressure, eat as a means of relieving stress or finding comfort.  Often, the driving emotion is frustration because their inordinate expectations have not been met in some way.  If they reacted to their frustration with anger, or blame themselves or others, a layer of guilt is added to the frustration.

Ylang Essential Oil

The aromatic focus of Ylang Ylang is spirituality.  It fosters a desire in our souls for deeper and more meaningful communication with heaven.  As we develop the emotional, caring, nurturing, intuitive, spiritual side of our natures, many things shift for us.  We find that we are able to block or filter the negativity and “garbage” around us; we are better able to focus our thoughts and our drive.

One of the behaviors that signals a need for Ylang Ylang is throwing temper tantrums that, if we are honest with ourselves, have the underlying intent of getting us our own way.  Another indication for Ylang Ylang is sudden loss of interest in work, personal appearance, and even in family members and friends.  Ylang Ylang may also be helpful for insecurity, low self-esteem, anger, rage, and dare-devil tendencies.

As Ylang Ylang’s hormonal properties work in conjunction with its nervine properties, it becomes exceptionally effective for depression, irritability, anxiety, rapid breathing, heart palpitations, high blood pressure, hypertension, nervous tension, physical and mental exhaustion, nervousness, and insomnia.

Depression, Anxiety & Sleep Oils

Dreams Essential Oil Blend
LeDreams has a beautiful aroma.  It can be diffused during the day for pleasure or meditation, and at night to promote restful and dreamless sleep.

This blend was formulated to help us keep our dreams in sight and realize our potential without becoming conceited or selfish.  LeDreams is one of the best oils for insomnia due to negative emotions or nightmares.

It is a favorite of children who are nervous in the dark or when left alone.  If nightmares persist while using LeDreams, continue to use it in conjunction with energy work modalities.  Finding the disturbing emotion, processing it, and letting it go is the only way to achieve lasting healing.  LeDreams can help you do that.  This blend has been beneficial for bedwetting if the root cause is fear or anxiousness.

Neroli Essential Oil
The aroma of Neroli has powerful effects on our minds and emotions.  It is calming, relaxing, uplifting, and encourages confidence.  It promotes feelings of joy, peace, and hope.

Neroli essential oil reawakens passion and sensitivity.  It can change negative outlooks and bring us renewed hope.  Neroli can help us trust our own intuition and good sense in the making of choices.

Neroli is renowned around the world for relieving nervous tension, promoting restful sleep, and elevating the mood.  It has been used successfully to treat depression, anxiety, and shock.  It is calming and relaxing because it stabilizes the emotions and encourages confidence and courage.

This oil is particularly appropriate for anyone who has become timid or withdrawn.  It can help with cynicism and despair.  Neroli helps to alleviate feelings of “nothing changes, nothing ever will.”  Neroli fosters independence and trust in our possibilities for a good future.

Neroli is a natural sedative.  It is useful for depression and anxiety.  Neroli relaxes the body, mind, and spirit.  It quiets the heart and soul.

Calcium, Magnesium & Gold Liquid Minerals

Since we are focusing on DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, and SLEEP in February, there were three minerals that I absolutely wanted to spend a little time on.

First, though I would like to tell you why I choose to take minerals in liquid form.

Recommendations by the FDA are measured in mg.  It is generally accepted that between 3% and 20% of the milligrams that are listed for solid capsules, tablets, or pills actually become water-soluble.  The body can only use things that become water-soluble.  Many pills, capsules, and tablets pass through the body without becoming water-soluble at all.  What a waste!

These Minerals are already in water-soluble, ionic liquid form.  They are ready for the cells in your body to, easily and quickly, absorb and use.  It is important to study and understand all the minerals but there are 3 that really fit this month’s discussion.

Calcium

This is one of the first elements depleted by insufficient dietary nutrients, it is one of the most essential of the major biochemical elements present in the body.  It supports bones, teeth, nails, nerves, muscles, and tissues.  It supports healthy body alkalinity for good immune system support.  Calcium is needed in every organ of the body.  It promotes repair processes and aids normal body functions.  It is important for the production and release of neurotransmitters that carry messages between nerve cells.  An imbalance of the mineral can cause depression and insomnia. Other symptoms of calcium deficiency include muscle cramps and spasms, numbness and tingling, fatigue, abnormal heart rhythm, seizures, osteoporosis, dry skin, confusion and memory loss, PMS, tooth decay and gum disease, and rickets.  Often, taking calcium and magnesium together right before bed will help us to sleep deeper.

Magnesium

Magnesium supports normal nerve and muscle function, aids digestion by activating enzymes for protein and carbohydrate metabolism, relaxes the body into deeper sleep, supports normal heart and liver function, and may help reduce inflammation in muscles, joints, and tissues.  It also contributes to a healthy immune system and the formation of DNA and RNA.  Magnesium is critical for enzymatic, hormonal, and neurotransmitter processes.  Evidence suggests that magnesium can lessen depressive symptoms, whereas magnesium insufficiency may aggravate stress responses.  Studies also distinguish magnesium as an effective aid in the treatment of depression and anxiety; in these settings, it corrects stress response mechanisms.  It is worth noting that the body needs magnesium to uptake calcium and vice versa.  That is why I take them together right before I go to bed.

Gold

Gold promotes a general feeling of well-being, supports the immune system, and promotes vitality and longevity.  It has a soothing and harmonizing effect on the body, mind, and spirit and is also known to promote a feeling of increased energy, willpower, mental focus, and libido.  Gold is used to improve the mental and emotional well-being of people suffering from anxiety, depression, frustration, and sadness.  It has been found to improve glandular function and is believed to help protect DNA from oxidative damage.  When gold tests up for a person, I consider very strongly that the depression may be deep enough to need the family to be aware that suicidal thoughts are likely a part of the picture.  Symptoms of deficiency include depression, despair, frustration, anguish, sorrow, seasonal affective disorder, circulatory problems, digestive disorders, glandular malfunctions, night sweats, hot flashes, arthritis, puncture wounds, burns, and chills.  This is a good mineral to consider taking, particularly in the winter months.

LN Carrier Oil
LN (Liniment Infused) carrier oil contains the herbs Comfrey, Arnica, St. John’s Wort, Lobelia, Calendula, Angelica, Valerian, Ginger, and Cayenne.  These herbs, infused in Almond Oil, create a carrier oil that is amazing for injuries, bruising, inflammation, and the general pain and soreness that accompanies injuries.  The addition of lobelia in this infusion helps to deliver the other healing herbs to the area of concern quickly, as well as relieve pain.  Many people use this like a liniment on aching legs at night for relief so they can sleep.  Consider using with LeDeeper or LeWarmDown essential oils for this use.

The Arnica works on sore, tight muscles and helps to reduce swelling of injured areas.  Arnica is not usually recommended for use on open wounds but in the small percentage that exists here, we have never had any problem over the course of many years.  Comfrey is probably best known for its healing ability for bones and tissues, but it is also very helpful for chest congestion.  Cayenne works on the blood and is very effective at improving overall circulation.  With increased circulation comes better oxygenation and healing.

    Hi LaRee,
I really like your oils. But I can’t find anywhere in the book I purchased or on your website if you have any essential oil that will help with bladder leakage or incontinence. If there is one would you let me know.
