The heart is an incredible muscle—yes, muscle. The amount of work done by the heart each day is almost too incredible to even believe. The body contains approximately six quarts of blood. This blood is pushed through the blood vessels over 1000 times in a day. The heart, incredibly, pumps about 6000 quarts (about 1,500 gallons) of blood in a single day for all the days of one’s life!
There is simply no way that I can cover the complicated workings and anatomy of the heart in this article. (I certainly do try during Foot Zone Therapy classes, as some of you can probably attest, to do my best with pages and pages of information—possibly too much information—in the material provided.
Two systems regulate heart activity. One involves the nerves of the autonomic nervous system and acts as an accelerator and as brakes for the heart rate. The other is the intrinsic conduction system—nodes which are built right into the heart tissue. This system sets the basic rhythm of the heart. For this article, let me stress firmly (very firmly) that when a person is under either physical or emotional stress, the heart works much too hard, pumping faster and more forcefully, in order to make more oxygen and glucose available to the systems of the body. The good news: For people who know how to handle stress more calmly or know how to rest and rejuvenate between periods of stress or hard work, the heart will slow down and beat steadily. This gives the heart a period of rest when the crisis is over.
A troubled mind may lead to a broken heart in a very literal and physical sense.
Many patients arriving at emergency rooms and doctors’ offices with symptoms of a heart attack have just experienced the death or loss of a loved one. Traumatic experiences such as a car accident or mugging are also recognized as triggers for heart attack-type symptoms.
Intense emotional events can trigger your sympathetic nervous system, unleashing a flood of chemicals. This sudden surge of chemicals can stun the heart’s muscle and leave it temporarily, and sometimes permanently, unable to pump properly. In medical speak, this is referred to as ‘Stress Cardiomyopathy’. Energy workers often refer to this situation as ‘Broken Heart Syndrome’. It is very real!
My point? If we insist on living our lives in real or imaginary stress, we will be increasing, daily, the stress on our hearts.
A second point? Anything that strengthens you emotionally—whether oils, herbs, exercise, faith, or anything else—will benefit your heart. . . and the heart certainly needs all the help that we can give it. Statistically speaking, heart disease of various types is the leading cause of death for both men and women and has been for more than a century!

The New Bright Heart herbal tea blend from Butterfly Express offers a simple, soothing way to nourish your heart each day. Crafted with herbs known for supporting circulation, easing tension, and encouraging balanced cardiovascular function, this tea brings together gentle botanicals that work in harmony to uplift both body and spirit.
Lemongrass adds a bright citrus note while providing antioxidants and supporting healthy cholesterol levels. Hawthorn berries, long valued for their cardiovascular benefits, help strengthen and tone the heart, supporting healthy circulation and overall heart function. Warming ginger promotes circulation and helps ease inflammation that can affect the heart, while turmeric offers potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory support to protect blood vessels and encourage overall cardiovascular harmony. Chamomile gently calms the nervous system, easing stress and tension—key factors in heart health—while ashwagandha helps the body adapt to stress and maintain balanced energy, supporting long-term heart function.
The flavor is gentle and uplifting—soft floral notes mingle with a touch of citrus brightness and warming spice—making it an enjoyable daily ritual. Beyond taste, the herbs in Bright Heart help calm the nervous system, support healthy blood flow, and provide antioxidant benefits, offering a holistic approach to heart health.

Omega-3 polyunsaturated fats are a crucial part of human cell membranes. They also have other important functions, including improving heart health, supporting mental health, promoting proper weight and weight loss, decreasing unhealthy liver fat, and supporting infant brain development both in utero through the placenta and through the mother’s milk as she nurses her child after it is born. Very importantly, Omega fatty acids fight inflammation in the various systems of the body.
Supportive, but not conclusive, research shows that consumption of Omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. Like Omega-3s, Omega-6 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids. Omega-6 fatty acids mainly provide energy. Some Omega-6 fatty acids have shown benefits in treating symptoms of chronic diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis and a host of others.
Omega-9 fatty acids are monounsaturated. Omega-9 fatty acids aren’t strictly “essential,” as the body can produce them. However, consuming foods rich in Omega-9 fatty acids instead of other types of fat may have health benefits.
Why add electrolytes to your daily routines? Taking electrolytes daily supports hydration, muscle function, nerve signals, and heart health by helping regulate fluid balance, blood pressure, and pH levels, crucial for energy, preventing cramps, and optimal cellular function.
Key electrolytes like sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium are vital for transmitting electrical impulses that tell muscles to contract, nerves to fire, and your heart to beat rhythmically. The Super Electrolyte Complex contains 3 of these electrolytes: potassium, sodium, and magnesium. Calcium? Best obtained by eating fresh green, leafy vegetables such as kale and green leafy lettuce, brussels sprouts, etc. (and, of course, good chlorophyll supplements such as the one researched and carried by Butterfly Express.
The addition of the Super Electrolyte Complex to water transforms it into an effective sports drink with no added sugars, calories, or artificial ingredients of any kind.

This four-ingredient essential oil blend was created during my midwife years for use in treating hemorrhoids in pregnant and postpartum women. This blend proved its effectiveness immediately! LeCypernium has also proved useful in the treatment of spider veins and even more serious varicose veins in the legs of several women. The four essential oils that make up this blend are each useful in building vascular (vein) strength and proper elasticity. Combined, as they are in this formulation, they are incredible! Rub (diluted, of course) onto affected areas, always moving from the feet, rubbing upward on the legs. Cypress, an ingredient in this blend, also increases circulation.

Geranium is far more than a heart tonic! Geranium regenerates tissues and nerves. It is excellent for skin disorders and skin care, and is especially nice for the skin of expectant mothers. Along with the essential oil blend LeDeeper, Geranium heals the sores of shingles. Geranium discharges toxins from the liver and dilates the biliary ducts, aiding liver, gallbladder, and kidney function. Emotionally, Geranium is a wonderful oil for those whose moods are up one minute and down the next.
Geranium is an ingredient in at least 27 Butterfly Express blends. That might make you think that I like the aroma of geraniums. Not really. In fact, there was a time when I was very allergic to their scent! (Not so today.) I do find it interesting, however, that the genus designation Pelargonium (from Latin, as most plant names are), when used in plant names, generally indicates that the aroma is “strong-smelling, heavy-scented or (sometimes) even referred to as rank. However, the healing properties, both emotionally and physically, of geranium essential oil are so amazing that I have included it—in reasonably small proportions—in so many blends. It is effective and beautiful at the same time when utilized in that manner!
LeKey to My Heart came about originally as a serendipitous mistake made in the blending of LeVitality. This ‘mistake’ immediately proved useful to me as I coped with my own heart issues and the emotional upheaval existing in my life at the time, as well as some patterns of thinking and worrying that were making things worse. (Yes, emotions really are—too often—a part of heart-related issues as well as most other illnesses!)
One of the emotional benefits of this blend, besides loving acceptance of others, is the bringing about of confidence that one’s body is capable of healing as well as being adequate to the tasks required from day to day! For me, this blend is a whole new “lease on life”! Brought about by accident? I think not!
LeKey to My Heart has proven useful for lowering high blood pressure, reducing stress levels, and increasing stamina and energy levels, and is an excellent tonic for the lymphatic system.

This lovely essential oil is known in Eastern medical practices as May Chang. Under that designation, it is highly regarded and used quite extensively.
As regards this month’s topic, Heart Health, Litsea is considered useful for high blood pressure and a host of other heart or circulation-related disorders. The key to choosing Litsea over more common Western remedies is when the condition appears in someone who is very nervous, is triggered by fear, or develops during or after a particularly stressful event.
Emotionally, Litsea cubeba is about joy, lightness of spirit, and just overall feelings of enthusiasm for life, no matter one’s age. Litsea is considered especially useful for working with traumatized children and in Inner Child Work for those who were traumatized or abused as children.

This essential oil is one of the very first blends I created as I began studying essential oils. My own heart was in rather serious trouble at the time, and I just kept studying and experimenting with blending oils for heart dysfunction until I arrived at something that I could feel working for myself! The creation of LeVitality—and the way it worked miracles in my own health situation at the time—gave me the confidence to keep learning even more about essential oils and to keep creating the oil blends that eventually made up the Butterfly Express line-up.
LeVitality is very specific for the cardiovascular, circulatory, pulmonary, and lymphatic systems. It should be tried for all heart-related and circulatory conditions, but LeVitality has amazing uses in so many other areas. It is often useful for lowering high blood pressure and reducing stress levels. This blend can increase stamina among the sick or the elderly.
This remedy is impressive for the treatment of shock and has been used to stop or slow the progress of an oncoming stroke while medical assistance is obtained. For an impending stroke, LeVitality should be quickly applied to the sides and back of the neck and forehead. Encourage the person to breathe as deeply and calmly as possible.
LeVitality is an adrenal stimulant, aids the function of the kidneys, and clears lymphatic congestion. The anti-inflammatory properties of LeVitality make it useful for arthritis, pleurisy, and sciatica. LeVitality can help balance hormones and is useful in treating toxemia during pregnancy when the toxemia is related to heart or circulation problems. LeVitality reduces the size and painfulness of hemorrhoids; be sure to dilute very well!
LeVitality and LeKey to My Heart are comprised of many of the same essential oils (explained a bit more above). LeVitality is, perhaps, a bit stronger with circulation issues due to the Capsicum (cayenne) and Allspice found in LeVitality that are not present in LeKey to My Heart. However, the extra emotional impact of LeKey to My Heart is just right on certain days and in certain emotionally-charged situations that seem to be negatively affecting the heart or circulation in general.

Marjoram is particularly noted for balancing and repairing situations that are occurring in the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, and reproductive systems of the body. Think about that list for a minute or two. Using this essential oil, either as a single (interesting aroma alone, and not exactly perfume-like) or as a component of a blend of several oils, each and every one of the body systems listed will be benefited.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the concepts of which I have learned to value, Marjoram balances and improves the Governing Vessel meridian, the stomach and spleen meridians, and the solar plexus chakra. The solar plexus chakra governs more organs than any other chakra. It is deeply linked to the ability to make wise decisions with ease and then be confident of the path you have chosen.
In addition, the Solar Plexus Chakra focuses primarily on relationship issues and is very important to the energy we both derive from and bring to our relationships and interactions with other people. Imbalance in this Chakra produces an extreme need for recognition from others. Such a person makes other people’s thoughts, or their perception of what they are thinking, the basis for their own happiness and perceptions of themselves. This attitude, of course, makes the setting of boundaries difficult and leaves the person open to manipulation by people around them who are prone to this sort of behavior in relationships.

Goldenrod, as the featured essential oil single this month, is also discussed below in this article. However, there is much more that can be said about this plant when used as an herbal tea!
Goldenrod is primarily a remedy for the urinary tract, but is also used for allergies that bring on itching eyes and running noses. Because Goldenrod is antimicrobial, astringent, antilithic, and diuretic all at the same time, it is absolutely perfect for any type of kidney infection. Goldenrod contains some saponins that act specifically against Candida albicans, the bacteria responsible for yeast infections and oral thrush.
Goldenrod can also be taken, best as a tea, for sore throats, chronic nasal congestion, and diarrhea. Because it is so mild (but effective) in its action, Goldenrod is particularly appropriate for children in both urinary and gastrointestinal complaints.
It is interesting to note that the medicinal properties of this herb were so well recognized that its name, Solidago, was derived from the Latin word ‘solide’, which literally means “to make whole.” In America, Goldenrod tea is still referred to as “Liberty Tea.” This reflects its use by the colonists as a substitute for the English tea that was being taxed by the king prior to the Revolutionary War.
BP has been used for many years and by many people to reduce high blood pressure. Most people were able to eventually maintain optimum blood pressure without medication. HVC or Cayenne needs to be included in the daily regimen.
A diet that includes lots of fresh vegetables—especially lovely green ones—is essential. Improving the diet always improves the chance of good results with any health problem and product! This is especially true of blood pressure. A moderate exercise program is also recommended. Exercise has a dramatic effect on the digestive system, enabling the body to uptake nutrients much more efficiently, and it increases circulation to carry those nutrients throughout the body. In short, this herbal combination is meant to aid the body by providing concentrated amounts of nutrients that have probably been in short supply in the body for a long time. If the situations that created the shortages are not addressed, it is like pouring these nutrients into a bucket with a very large hole in it.
This combination is sold at Butterfly Express in both an alcohol/water-based tincture and as a glycerite (made with glycerin) tincture, or as a dry herb pack.
Possible uses for Cayenne include blood pressure, arthritis, mental confusion, dizziness, vertigo, heart-related issues, headache, metabolism, motion sickness, osteoporosis, shingles, shock, trauma recovery, increased stamina, stroke, varicose veins—and, likely, a whole host of things I have not thought about to include here! It is an ingredient in at least 27 Butterfly Express herbal combinations. Cayenne is about as close to a cure-all herb as there is in nature. If I could only have one herb in my house, Cayenne would be the one I would choose.
Cayenne is the #1 stimulant herb known in herbal lore, especially for the cardiovascular and circulatory systems. I, and many others, consider Cayenne to be the purest and most powerful of all the medicinal herbs. The best description I have ever read of Cayenne is that it causes “the fires of life to burn more brightly.”
Cayenne rebuilds (yes, rebuilds) vein structures, removes plaque from veins, and sends the blood rushing along, carrying nutrients to every cell of the body. Cayenne’s action on the cardiovascular system is almost instantaneous. Cayenne brings the blood, especially the clotting factors, into a state of homeostasis, making it effective for hemorrhage as well as poor circulation.
The sensation (that burning feeling) created on the tongue stimulates the brain to release endorphins. Endorphins block pain receptors throughout the body. They also induce a feeling of overall well-being! A positive attitude can have a beneficial effect on healing, especially with chronic illnesses. Although Cayenne is hot to the taste, it actually lowers body temperature by stimulating a center in the hypothalamus that is responsible for cooling the body when overheated.
Hawthorn, among its many wonderful healing properties, increases the flow of blood and nutrients to the heart, where it strengthens and rebuilds that often over-worked and under-nourished muscle! These berries relax and dilate arteries everywhere in the body, but with an outstanding and specific focus on the coronary arteries around the heart muscle that feed it. It doesn’t take much effort to find studies to confirm that Hawthorn is of great value in treating chronic heart problems. If you are looking for ‘anecdotal stories’ as evidence of Hawthorn’s effectiveness, you can start right here with me! Fortunately, we have a hawthorn tree right here on our farm property!
Hawthorn is much prized for blood pressure issues. It will raise or lower the blood pressure according to the patient’s needs. This returning of a system to homeostasis is actually true of most remedies that have been left in their natural state, rather than pulverized and the supposed “key” constituents removed and administered separately—the definition of many drugs. Hawthorn shows this holistic feature as clearly as any herb that I know of. Bilberry and Hawthorn are related species, and the healing properties of their leaves share many characteristics. Hawthorn is strongly antioxidant, which helps to prevent or reduce degeneration of the blood vessels.
According to Michael T. Murray (a researcher and author that I have found very educational), there are flavonoids in Hawthorn berries that have a very strong “Vitamin P” activity. This means that Hawthorn increases intracellular Vitamin C levels, protects Vitamin C from destruction or oxidation, and decreases capillary permeability and fragility. These flavonoids also protect collagen (and the cells that it make up) from destruction during inflammatory episodes, such as occur following accidents and during many chronic diseases.
Michael T. Murray claims that inflammation is the ‘cause’, not just a symptom of most chronic, degenerative illnesses!
As you can plainly see from the information about Cayenne and Hawthorn above, this is a remedy that is specific to congestive heart failure and heart conditions of any kind!
In addition, this remedy (Cayenne and Hawthorn combined in a proper ratio) increases circulation to the brain! These two herbs, in combination, also create an outstanding brain tonic. They act as a preventative to memory loss and lessen the confusion that poor circulation to the brain brings about!
Dandelion, while considered a noxious weed by most people, is honored by herbalists and those who know of its tremendous nutritive value. Because Dandelion increases the flow of bile, it greatly enhances the absorption of the vitamins and minerals that it contains. Dandelion is very high in Vitamin A, an absolutely necessary vitamin that, for too many of us, is in short supply in our daily diets. Dandelion also contains a wide spectrum of B vitamins, iron, and a whole list of other minerals in proper proportions that are easily absorbed.
Many herbalists consider Dandelion to be specific (and amazing) for both hypoglycemia and diabetes. Michael T. Murray says that Dandelion may act as a buffer to blood glucose levels, thus preventing sudden and severe fluctuations.
Dandelion leaves have a mild and pleasant taste in the early spring, but become quite bitter as the summer progresses. Early pioneers in the American West valued the early spring Dandelion leaves as a “spring tonic” after the long winter months of too little nutritious plant material in their diets. I believe that we can benefit from the same routine since the “Great American Diet” (and our busy lifestyles) create a situation where we may be lacking in nutrients in our own diets.
Rosehips have extremely high levels of vitamins, particularly Vitamin C and Vitamin A. The value of these two nutrients are discussed later in this article under the description of Rosehips utilized as a carrier oil for applying essential oils to the body.
Other nutrients contained in Rosehips, utilized as a tea or tincture, include Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, and K as well as thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, choline, betaine, and the minerals, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, and fluoride. Quite a list! And the nutrients in Rosehips are in an extremely absorbable form.
Rosehips are a gentle remedy for diarrhea, and they are mildly diuretic. In addition, Rosehips reduce thirst and alleviate gastric inflammation. In folk remedies in the early years of America, Rosehips were considered a remedy for chest (meaning heart and lung) issues.
Iron needs Vitamin C to be absorbed! Please be sure to add Vitamin C during pregnancy and at other times when the absorption of additional iron is needed. Vitamin C will support and enhance your immune system function while aiding the absorption of iron in your body!

Featured Blessed Waters for Heart HealthOh my! Where to start on this broad topic?
Butterfly Express carries Blessed Water remedies for each chakra and each Meridian, listed by Chakra and Meridian names and numbers. Since each Chakra is related to and affected by a specific color, Butterfly Express also carries a remedy for each Chakra, which contains both Chakra-affecting remedies and a remedy derived from the corresponding color. (Color remedies are a deep discussion for another day, as well.) Suffice it to say that it would be impossible to utilize a homeopathic remedy of any sort without affecting the Chakra and Meridian associated with the physical, mental, and emotional symptoms and imbalances that the remedy is specific for.
I will mention here today the Complete Chakra Blessed Water remedy, which is sometimes referred to by the name Complete Energy. The description of this remedy online (linked from ButterflyExpress.shop to ButterflyExpressions.org) follows here:
The energy of the seven central chakras (and the spleen chakra, which is located over the spleen, both front and back) forms a vertical column of energy, called Sushumna. It is this column that the energies of the chakras interact with each other, and strengthen and support one another. Because the chakras spin in opposing directions, they form two crisscrossing channels called Ida and Pingala. The Complete Energy remedy strengthens the central column and the two crisscrossing channels, thus strengthening both Yin and Yang. (Another TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) term and energy belief that is worth studying in order to further understand the workings of your own physical and energy body!)
If you type ‘Complete Chakra’ in the search bar at ButterflyExpress.shop, you will see a link to ‘Read More from Butterfly Expressions. ’ Tap this link. Below the product picture is ‘Read more about Chakra Blessed Waters here’. Tapping ‘here’ will take you to a brief description of each Chakra. Perhaps you also noticed on the ButterflyExpress.shop page for the Complete Chakra remedy links to books I have written that discuss chakras in more detail. I would recommend these books as starting places if you wish to study Chakras and Blessed Water/Homeopathic remedies in more detail.
The following information is taken directly from the book I wrote titled Butterfly Miracles with Homeopathic Remedies II (Blessed Waters are Butterfly Express equivalents to Homeopathic remedies)
Over 5,000 years ago, the ancient Chinese discovered an entire system of subtle energy in the body that is only now able to be “read” by our modern diagnostic and imaging tools. Energy disturbances in these subtle systems precede the manifestation of abnormal patterns of cellular organization and growth.
There is a primary energetic substance of which everything in the universe is composed. Physical matter and energy are two different manifestations of this primary substance. Matter, which vibrates at a very slow frequency, relatively speaking, is referred to as physical matter. Matter that vibrates at speeds exceeding the velocity of light is known as subtle matter. Subtle matter is just as real as the more dense form of matter.
The Chinese have mapped out twelve meridians, or pathways, along which this energy travels in the human body. These meridians were named for the life function associated with them. To the majority of scientists in the Western Hemisphere, these meridians seem like imaginary structures because there are no published anatomical studies of them in orthodox medical journals to substantiate their existence. The medical community does admit, however, that there is much about “energy” in the human body that cannot be explained in terms of circulation, nerves, or by the electrical impulses that they can trace.
Meridians are the pathways of communication between the various parts of the human body/mind/soul complex. Through these meridians pass an invisible nutritive energy known to the Chinese as ch’i. The ch’i energy enters the body through specific points and flows to deeper organ structures, bringing life-giving nourishment of a subtle energetic nature.
The meridians, and specific acupuncture points along them, have been mapped by modern technological methods—electronically, thematically, and radioactively. Normal energy over one of these points, when healthy and vibrant, is approximately 100,000 ohms. With practice and awareness, this energy can be felt and located by the human hand, with micro-electrical voltage meters, and with muscle testing. It is often easier to feel a point with your hand when the point is not functioning correctly.
A strong and balanced flow of energy through the body’s meridians is important to optimal health. Blocked meridians create imbalanced energy flow to organs, which contributes to disease states within the body. There are emotional and mental characteristics associated with each pair of meridians. In fact, some of what we call personality is dictated by the way the energy is flowing through our meridians.
If you type ‘Meridian’ into the search box on the Butterflyexpress.shop site, you will find a list of the remedies for each of the 12 Meridians (actually the Yin and Yang aspects of each Meridian). Each remedy links to further information on the ButterflyExpressions.org page. (Why two pages and two—actually more—companies than two operate around here? The FDA may be able to explain it, but I cannot fathom the rules well enough.)

Featured Liquid Minerals for Heart HealthCalcium is needed in some way for every organ and tissue of the body! A deficiency of this mineral negatively affects our bones, teeth, nails, nerves, muscles, and nearly every other tissue of which the body is composed. Repair of tissues when there has been an injury (or a surgery) will be accomplished much more quickly if the daily diet provides plenty of calcium from easy-to-absorb sources.
Unfortunately, the body’s need for calcium makes it one of the first elements depleted by insufficient dietary nutrients and by the need to repair the body after an injury or the physical trauma of surgery.
How can we build and maintain proper calcium levels in our bodies? In my opinion, most calcium supplements are next to worthless. We must consume foods with calcium regularly (daily) if we want to maintain health in our bodies.
Foods that contain calcium include, as we have been taught, dairy products and nearly everything containing milk. However, green vegetables, while containing less calcium overall, provide calcium in a form that the body readily absorbs. Broccoli, kale, green beans, spinach, Swiss chard, and Brussels sprouts are some of the best. Surprisingly, to me at least, nuts such as almonds and Brazil nuts, pumpkin and sesame seeds, and onions are also rich sources of calcium.
Magnesium is critically important to good health! As near as I can tell, magnesium is necessary for over 300 various processes that occur daily in our bodies! A few, very few, of these include the support of normal nerve and muscle function, activating enzymes for protein and carbohydrate metabolism. Magnesium is necessary for normal heart and liver function and, when needed, reduces inflammation in muscles, joints, and tissues.
That last item on the above list, reducing inflammation, is very important. Inflammation is a key part of and problem related to nearly every autoimmune disease as the body ‘turns against’ its own cells and tissues.
The consumption of what foods will help us achieve and maintain proper magnesium levels? Fortunately, the list includes all of the foods mentioned above for proper calcium levels, as well as most grains and nuts.
One of the outstanding characteristics of potassium in the body is that it is necessary for the processes in the body that move other nutrients into your cells. Potassium also keeps sodium levels in check.
Why is this important? What does this close relationship of potassium and salt have to do with good health? We have been told for years, falsely, that too much salt (sodium) is bad for us. Sodium, in the presence of potassium, replenishes and aids the proper absorption of alkaline salts and places them in the bloodstream where they can be effectively utilized throughout the body.
In addition, potassium is critical to proper nerve function. It is critical to cardiovascular function and vital to the kidneys by assisting in the elimination of waste.
During my childhood, a dear, unmarried uncle living next door provided all of us kids with a constant flow of sugary treats. My mother finally brokered a deal with him. She would provide treats, and he would provide only healthy things. He became known among my siblings and many cousins as the “Banana Uncle”! What a blessing since bananas are a great source of potassium!
You may be surprised to know that potatoes—plain white ones—contain even more potassium than bananas! My husband could eat potatoes 5 times a day! We typically eat a lot of potatoes in this family! Other sources of potassium include tomatoes, spinach, black beans, beets, salmon, butternut squash, and avocados. This list is a list of my favorite foods! There are many other sources, as well.

LeBeMine Essential Oil BlendThe ‘high notes’ of the Bergamot in LeBeMine bring happiness and the emotional patterns of this lovely blend. Vanilla (I love a good vanilla oil!) adds deep contentment with its warm, velvety richness. Benzoin has a slightly woody aroma with its own strong vanilla aroma. Emotionally, Benzoin is especially indicated for persons who feel unloved (or undeserving of love) even when surrounded by family and friends who love them deeply. This oil, even when only a small part of a blended oil, helps a person recognize and appreciate the love and support they have around them.
Insufficient energy in the Spleen Meridian or, I believe, damage to the spleen itself, results in over-thinking and excessive worry. Benzoin raises this energy. I particularly love using this oil when I am heading for either emotional or physical exhaustion—an imbalanced spleen and spleen meridian characteristic—and beginning to worry needlessly and ineffectively, ‘Spinning my wheels’ as my mother would have described it, and keeping myself awake at night with mind chatter.
LeKadence Essential Oil BlendLeKadence improves the uptake of nutrients to the brain and nervous system. It can help alleviate exhaustion in whatever form it has taken in the body and mind. LeKadence is especially useful for recovering from deep-seated or extended illnesses.
Sometimes (many times) sleep patterns are interrupted by nervous exhaustion, physical weakness, and worry. The body needs sleep so badly, but just cannot seem to rest. LeKadence, with many of the same oils that make LeGoodNite effective, can be helpful here. The addition of Allspice aids the rejuvenation of the cells as the body rests. The allspice also provides a delightful spicy twist that completely changes the aroma, frequency, and therapeutic properties of this blend from those of LeGoodNite. (‘Playing’ with essential oils—blending, in other words—is so much FUN!)
LeKadence brings vitality to the heart chakra and the heart muscle. It reduces inflammation in and around the heart and pericardial sac. LeKadence is often effective for quieting heart palpitations, especially those brought on by worrying. This blend is useful for dizziness and vertigo.

Goldenrod Essential OilI first came to appreciate Goldenrod as a herb that has a profound healing effect on the kidneys, something I badly needed at the time. As I studied deeply the concepts taught in Traditional Chinese Medicine, I learned that the heart and the kidneys are closely related. Trouble in one area will bring about trouble in the other area as well and consistently. The Goldenrod I was using for my kidneys was also strengthening my struggling heart! I later learned that Goldenrod, either in herbal or essential oil form, improves liver function and aids lymphatic drainage and is effective for sinus and bronchial mucus in the relief of hay fever symptoms.
Goldenrod is an ingredient in LeReflections, which is very much an emotional blend. Goldenrod is emotionally and psychologically strengthening. It helps bring us to a state of mind where we are able to take charge of our own emotional and physical health. Of course, when emotional issues improve, the physical body improves as well.
This ‘golden’ (meaning amazing) essential oil also has many outstanding physical healing properties. The Swiss Pharmacopia lists Goldenrod as a support for the cardiovascular system for tachycardia and arrhythmia, and credits it with strengthening the urinary tract and improving liver function. The combination of nervine, cardiovascular, and urinary tract properties makes Goldenrod a natural choice for the control of high blood pressure. Goldenrod is also found in the LeSafeguard blend. LeSafeguard was created as a digestive tonic and to prevent or clear out parasites from the body.

Rosehip Carrier OilThe main properties sought for when using Rosehip carrier oil are the Vitamins A and C and antioxidants that rosehips contain in any form—essential oil, carrier oil, or used in any way as an herb. Are nutrients absorbed into the body through the skin? Of course they are, just as toxic substances can be!
These two vitamins, A and C, are cytophylactic, meaning that they aid cell regeneration and the sloughing off of old, dead cells and cellular waste products. These properties make Rosehip carrier oil an excellent choice for the treatment of damaged skin cells, including burns and scars and for anti-aging of skin cells. The anti-oxidants found in Rosehips make it a natural anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is a key contributor to many chronic illnesses!

Chakra Essential Oil KitChakras, or Energy Centers as they are sometimes called, are a very basic part of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) theory and practice. (During my years of study of TCM I have learned so many things that were valuable to me and to my family—and to many other people, as well.)
Chakras seem to exist on all levels of our subtle bodies (spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical). The energy of the chakras communicates freely with the denser matter of our physical bodies. Chakras can be compared to energy transformers, which allow the higher energy frequencies of the spiritual, mental, or emotional bodies to function and communicate with the lower frequency levels of the physical body. Chakras are energy, and they respond very readily to the energy patterns of essential oils.
While I have come to realize that all essential oils affect the subtle energy that underlies and supports our physical bodies, there are some essential oil blends that have a profound effect on the chakras. This kit contains my favorite oils for chakra work—and the ones I have watched come up time and time again during energy classes as the students worked on each other. Many other oil blends at Butterfly Express would be very effective for balancing chakras. Some of them are very expensive and very delightful. This kit was put together with both effectiveness and price as considerations.
