Rose oil for energy protection

Rose de Mai Essential Oil Single

Rose is and always has been my very favorite essential oil.  I am so excited about this new one because it smells as close to a rose as any oil I have ever smelled. It is amazing and is much more affordable. In fact, it is the first Rose oil to be sold by Butterfly Express in a 10ml.

Rose is one of the very best oils for use in any emotional crisis. It is useful in extreme debility and fatigue. Rose has a four-fold action on nerves, digestion, vascular, and urinary systems. This action is one of cleansing, rather than stimulation. Rose oil, surprisingly, is one of the most antiseptic essential oils. This antiseptic action, combined with its action on capillaries and its soothing and emollient qualities, makes it a wonderful oil for nearly all types of skin.

Rose is an outstanding remedy for those times when we feel trapped by our responsibilities or by the past. Sometimes we need help to let go and move forward into the future easily and with delight. The best way that I know to describe Rose oil is to tell you a story that was told to me.

The Story:

A very wise man was walking along the edge of the river one day. He heard faint calls for help coming from just over the edge of the rushing river. As he looked over the edge he saw a person, so very afraid, clinging to an old dead branch with all of his might. “Help me,” the poor person calls out to him. “Please, give me your hand. I can’t hold on another moment.” The wise man looks around him and spots a beautiful rose growing on the side of the riverbed. Picking it up, he holds it out to the distraught person, saying, “Take hold of this rose. It is the most magical of flowers. You will be saved and all will be well with you.” The person immediately reaches for the magic flower, losing his grip on the old dead branch—and the rushing river instantly carries him away. The wise man smiles and walks down the riverbank for a short way. There he finds the person, wet and shaken, but washed ashore quite safely. The wise man hands the person the flower and says gently, with compassion and understanding in his voice, “You only needed to trust and let go.” We choose our attitudes and beliefs based on our perceptions of the experiences in our past. Rose oil can help us understand that nothing from the past needs to hamper our futures.

Raw Honey for allergies

Raw Honey

This is one of nature’s purest foods. Raw honey is honey that is pure, unheated, unpasteurized, and unprocessed, preserving all the natural vitamins, enzymes, phytonutrients, and other nutritional elements found in honey. Commercial honey (the kind you find in most grocery stores) has been filtered and pasteurized, which destroys most of its nutritional value.

Raw honey contains many amino acids, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, and enzymes. In fact, the live enzyme content of honey is one of the highest of all foods. Raw honey will also contain bee pollen and propolis, which have their own health benefits. Bee pollen is a super nutritious compound, containing all the nutrients required by the human body. It is a source of vitamins, minerals, beneficial fatty acids, carotenoids, and bioflavonoids, and is about 40% protein. Raw honey is alkaline-forming.

Raw honey is mainly used as a natural sweetener. It has a lower glycemic index than sugar and is a great natural energy source. It has many therapeutic properties and a lot of scientific research has been done on its many uses.

Some of the health benefits of raw honey: Strengthens the immune system, provides natural allergy relief (in some cases eliminating the allergy altogether), boosts energy and endurance, is beneficial in the treatment of ulcers, wounds, and minor burns, works as an expectorant, has antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties, and is a natural sleep aid.

AL Tincture for allergies

AL Tincture

Allergies, like acne, begin in the liver and the colon, and this is where the fight against them must be waged. There was a time in my life when I was allergic to many, many things. Today I am almost completely allergy free. I have to really overeat a food or two to even remember that I ever had allergies. The AL tincture should be taken—dosage being a dropperful three times a day—beginning at least a couple of months before the anticipated allergy season. It is also very helpful to take Bee Pollen capsules at the same time. During the height of my own allergies, I started the tincture and the Bee Pollen in February to prepare for spring and summer. Eventually, the remedies, internal cleansing programs, and energy work freed me from allergy-related suffering.

Homeopathic or energetic remedies such as Allergies #1 (sold at Butterfly Express LLC), Allium cepa and Apis melifica, or whatever deep-level homeopathic you test for or research out for your specific symptoms, can help a lot in eliminating the allergy altogether. Lots of vitamin C can be helpful during an acute allergy attack.

No herbal remedy will really work well, long or short-term if you are still eating a predominantly acidic or unhealthy diet!

March Featured Oils

The three blends and three singles that were chosen for March are particularly helpful when dealing with allergies, and energy protection.

Benediction and energy protection

LeBenediction is a favorite among massage and energy therapists. It strengthens one’s own energy boundaries and protects against “energy drains” that can occur when working with other people’s energy fields. This blend should be used at times when you are feeling particularly vulnerable and “energy sensitive” and easily drained by people and situations.

LeBenediction can help us speak up and express our needs clearly without blaming or whining, especially if we are sensitive to or over-awed by the person we are addressing. This blend can also temper our tendency to judge unkindly when we feel that a person has created the mess they are in and we are justified in leaving them alone to fix it.

LeBenediction also aids us in learning to acknowledge the role that blessings from above have played in our own successes and achievements. Gratitude to heaven is a very healing emotion; probably the best thing you can do to balance your own chakra centers. Try this blend any time you are feeling angry, stressed, or depressed.

LeBenediction is also very effective after an illness for returning energy levels to normal and getting us back on our feet both physically and emotionally.

Sanctuary for energy protection

LeSanctuary promotes feelings of protection and safety. From this safe place, we can examine ourselves comfortably, listening closely to the whisperings of the spirit and our own intuitive knowledge of our strengths and weaknesses. This process helps us develop wisdom and good judgment and lets us build trust in ourselves and our decisions. LeSanctuary has a special affinity for the central vessel and bladder meridians. In doing so, it can help us replace fear in our lives with faith in healthy ways. LeSanctuary brings all of the chakras into harmony with each other, balancing the energy cohesively between them.

This blend is meant to be diffused! It surrounds us with feelings of contentment and faith. Alternatively, it can be worn as perfume, cologne, or applied to the solar plexus, brain stem, crown of the head, back of the neck, behind the ears, over the thymus, or on the wrists. I like to carry this one in an inhaler so that I can let it take me to a quiet place whenever I need to.

Seasons for allergies

All essential oils impact emotions, and while LeSeasons is primarily a physical blend it will help bring clarity of thought, help improve attention span, help us analyze our resentments, and then help us let go of that which no longer serves us. It is a stimulating blend and can bring a renewed sense of energy.

LeSeasons is amazing for clearing out the sinuses and for relieving a sinus headache. This blend should be used for colds, allergies, sinus congestion, and sinus headaches. LeSeasons helps the lymph system drain and strengthens the immune system. The cool mint sensation of LeSeasons can help lessen the pain of sore throats, and body aches, and pains, and help cool a fever.

Although LeSeasons is not a complex blend, it will affect the body on many different levels due to the universal uses of the single essential oils contained in it. LeSeasons can be used as a whole-body balancer, and will gently detox the body. The Lavender in LeSeasons will bring balance to all systems, work wherever there is a need, and nurture us through a variety of physical and emotional stresses. Lavender was added to this blend to bring us a sense of unchanging support, while the Peppermint opens up our minds to fresh ideas. The Lemon helps to gently detox due to it’s renowned properties for dissolving blockages, and re-establishing the flow of lymph. Lemon Myrtle was added to this wonderful blend because it is so effective at killing germs and boosting the body’s natural defenses.

LeSeasons is a great example of synergy, and how all the single essential oils blend to become more than the sum of their parts.

Hyssop for energy work

Hyssop is often diffused at the beginning of energy work or emotional healing sessions to clear and protect the environment. Hyssop is said to protect the auric field and strengthen personal boundaries. In an energy work situation, Hyssop puts the customer in charge and in control of the direction and the depth to which the work will go. In many traumas and nearly all cases of abuse, the situation was out of the person’s control. A sense of being in charge, being able to control the pace, and being able to choose the direction of the work is absolutely essential to healing.

The herbaceous aroma of Hyssop is about freedom—freedom of movement in the body, freedom of expression, and freedom from sin. Hyssop is a symbol of spiritual cleansing and is used in purification rituals in many cultures and religions. The feeling it creates of freedom to express one’s opinions makes Hyssop oil beneficial for family or group planning sessions. It is a good oil to diffuse or wear when you sit down to journal and set goals. From a strong sense of our personal space and boundaries, we are better able to be tolerant, understanding, and accepting of others as they learn and grow. With the help of Hyssop, we can better live the commandment to love one another.

Hyssop’s effect on circulation and lymph drainage make it useful for discharging toxins and mucous, treating dermatitis and gout, raising low blood pressure, preventing or minimizing scar tissue, and the healing of infections and wounds. Hyssop increases perspiration. Sweating is one of the body’s ways of removing toxins and impurities. It also lowers body temperature. When the circulation is poor and the lymph glands are clogged, perspiration is unable to occur. This is a serious and health-threatening situation.

Lavender Essential Oil Single

Lavender  Lavender is a universal oil that has been shown to balance the body and to work wherever there is a need. It is called “the grandmother” of essential oils because it cares for and nurtures us through such a variety of physical and emotional stresses. If you don’t know what essential oil to reach for, try Lavender.  It can help us move from judgment to kindness and generosity.

One of the great emotional gifts of Lavender is the feeling of total and unchanging support around and within us. It leaves us with no room for doubt that we are loved and will be supported in life’s challenges and in the process of healing. Lavender promotes faith, even in the hard times. This wonderful oil brings balance between masculine and feminine energy and traits.

Lavender is a gentle, but effective, sedative and nervine. It can bring relief from anxiety, panic, hysteria, emotional and mental fatigue, headaches and migraines, and insomnia.

Spruce for energy protection

Spruce encourages communication, both the speaking and listening aspects.

Spruce (and other conifers) create the symbolic effect of an umbrella that protects the earth and brings energy in from the universe. At night the animals of the forest lie down under a conifer tree for the protection and rejuvenation that the tree will provide for them. Spruce grounds the solar plexus and stimulates the thymus, creating the emotional balance necessary to be gracious at both giving and receiving. Spruce can help us push through emotional blocks to further healing.

The analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties of Spruce make it beneficial for bone pain, aching joints, arthritis, and sciatica. Spruce should be massaged wherever sore muscles need relaxing and re-energizing.

March Oils for allergies and energy protection

March Featured Essential Oil Blend

Inner Peace for energy protectionLeInner Peace can aid us in staying focused and clear, particularly about the direction of our lives. It promotes harmony between ourselves and others, and between ourselves and God. This blend helps us feel genuine compassion for others and aids us in forming rewarding relationships.

Much like LeBenediction, LeInner Peace protects the energies of our bodies and minds from attack and depletion by the energies of others. Though protected energetically, LeInner Peace leaves us open, compassionate, and willing to be of service if we desire. It can also be helpful if we fear or hate being alone.

LeInner Peace can help us with acceptance of ourselves and others and with the calm acceptance of the changes that life brings to us all. For emotional work, use with LeSanctuary and LeMagi.

LeInner Peace can enhance whatever state you are in. If you want to feel more gratitude or contentment, you must already be feeling some of those emotions—or at the very least, desiring with all your heart to feel them. You should use this blend with caution when angry or when caught up in negative emotions as this essential oil blend can act as an amplifier to those emotions. It may amplify negative emotions as well as positive ones. It is sometimes necessary to diffuse LeSanctuary or another of your favorite uplifting emotional blends for a little while before using LeInner Peace. This is one of my favorite blends for really deep emotional or spiritual work that includes introspection, journaling, and prayer!

March Featured Single Essential Oil

Chamomile Roman Essential Oil SingleThe aroma of Chamomile Roman, in my opinion, is the most relaxing scent in the entire essential oil world. Chamomile Roman is powerfully soothing. The soothing action of this oil applies to both physical and emotional conditions alike. Diffused, this oil creates an atmosphere of peace and patience.

Chamomile Roman smooths the flow of the chi energy throughout the body. It is this regulation of vital energy that makes Chamomile Roman so powerfully soothing to both physical and emotional conditions. In fact, so powerfully does this oil unravel the negative emotions behind physical ailments, that it is sometimes hard to tell if it is working at an emotional or a physical level. Chamomile Roman is of great benefit in the treatment of chronic headaches, insomnia, nervous indigestion and nausea, and irritable bowel syndrome—to name just a few.

The smoothing out of the vital energy prevents the build-up of energetic heat, which manifests in the body as inflammation. This Chamomile Roman is particularly beneficial for alleviating neuritis, cystitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and earache.

Chamomile Roman cleanses the blood and reduces allergic reactions. Allergy sufferers can find a great deal of relief by carrying an inhaler or just a few drops of this oil on a tissue or cotton ball. It is an antihistamine and soothing to inflamed tissues.

One of the outstanding uses of Chamomile Roman essential oil is for babies with colic, babies who startle awake and then cry for a long time, and infants that are just plain fussy and want to be held and comforted most of the day and night.

Allergies Blessed Waters

Allergies Blessed Waters

An allergy is an inappropriate response by the body to any substance that is not harmful to most people. The immune system, which is supposed to protect us from toxins and pathogens, wrongly identifies a substance as harmful to us and goes into action. The response can be anywhere from mildly annoying to symptoms severe enough to create an anaphylactic shock. These types of allergies grow worse with each reaction; they are NOT something that a person typically grows out of.

Allergies #1 (7X)

This is a great remedy to use for shellfish allergies or when you are not sure of the cause of your allergy.

GRINDELIA ROBUSTA (rosin-wood) The symptoms here are a full range of allergic responses such as lung disorders, respiratory distress, asthma, rashes, and itching eyes.
URTICA URENS (stinging nettle) This polycrest remedy has a wide range of severe allergic reactions in its symptom picture and is especially suited for use with bee stings and for the ill effects of eating shellfish. Unusual and noteworthy symptoms include chronic gout, joint pain, hives, itchy blisters on fingers and hands, and burning pain in the throat.
HYDROPHYLLUM VIRGINICUM (Virginia waterleaf) Hydrophyllum’s range of action includes symptoms relating to the eyes. Among them will be swollen eyelids, eye inflammation, itching, and sensitivity to light.

Allergies #2 (6X)

This remedy is for neuralgic headaches, bites, stings, and coughs.

GUACO (climbing hempweed) Guaco grows in tropical areas and has a local reputation for relief from the bites of scorpions and snakes. This remedy acts predominantly on the nervous system. Outstanding symptoms are pain along the spine and constriction and feeling of paralysis in the throat.
CADMIUM METALLICUM (cadmium metal) Cadmium markedly affects the eyes with light sensitivity, burning, and inflammation occurring. There may be extreme neuralgic headaches, difficult respiration with coughs that are mucus-filled—sometimes blood-streaked—with bronchial and pulmonary distress. Chronic dermatitis is often seen.
EUPHORBIUM OFFICINARUM (gum euphorbium) The symptom picture includes hay fever, headache, inflammation of the eyelids with itching, constant dry cough with a hollow sound, dryness of the mouth with a white-coated tongue, and ringing in the ears—especially when sneezing and at night.

Allergies #3 (9X)

Allergic reactions that mimic the common cold and affect the kidneys or heart.

APIS MELLIFICA (honey bee) Allergy symptoms of Apis include burning, itching, and inflammation of serous membranes, excessive swelling with edema, kidney distress, and heart troubles. Apis can be useful for both mild situations and serious allergic shock reactions.
ALLIUM CEPA (red onion) Allium covers more symptoms of common colds and hay fever than any other remedy. The eyes feel as though you are cutting up raw onions at the moment. There will be increased secretions from mucus membranes, hacking cough, dripping nose, sneezing, fever with thirst, hoarseness, and a sensation of a lump in the throat.

Allergies #4 (6X)

Specifically for allergies to animal hair but often useful for other allergies when the symptom picture fits the allergies the person is experiencing.

GRINDELIA ROBUSTA (rosin-wood) The symptoms here are a full range of allergic responses such as lung disorders, respiratory distress, asthma, rashes, and itching eyes.
PINUS SYLVESTRIS (Scotch pine) The picture of Pinus is predominantly lung symptoms similar to what is experienced with bronchitis. A lot of mucus but the accompanying cough is short and dry. There are feelings of tightness in the chest with impaired ability to breathe.
VERATRUM ALBUM (white hellebore) Veratrum symptoms always include profound prostration, and near total collapse with extreme coldness and weakness. There may be spasmodic contractions of the muscles of the chest. With veratrum type symptoms everything comes on suddenly.
GELSEMIUM SEMPERVIRENS (yellow jasmine) The most notable symptom of Gelsemium is burning in the larynx and chest when coughing. There will be extreme itching of the skin but there may or may not be any eruptions. The person will be trembling with weak, aching muscles as the reaction progresses.
PSORINUM (scabies nosode) Psorinum is specific for allergies and hay fever which are a family inheritance related to the Psora miasm. Offensive, foul-smelling discharges of all sorts. Hot sensation in chest with a great deal of pain. The keynote Psora pattern of remedies working well for a time but then failing to produce effective results with the need to find another remedy and then another in order to keep healing progressing will be present.

Allergies #5 (8X)

Particularly for reactions to mold, yeast, or dust.

SILICA TERRA (pure flint) Bruised pain in chest when coughing or breathing deeply. Itchy eruptions, mostly on the chest area and chronic skin rashes appearing at any time. Asthma-like symptoms as a result of allergies, usually worse in the early fall. Violent cough, especially when lying down. Chronic catarrh and coryza in the nose and sinuses.
PHOSPHORUS (the element) Phosphorus ailments can be insidious—gradually increasing in their effect on the entire system. The allergic reactions of Phosphorus consist of irritation, inflammation, and degeneration of the mucus membranes. There may be a feeling of a great weight on the chest, with difficulty breathing and feelings of heat throughout the body. There is frequent itching and burning of the eyes with sensitivity to wind.
HISTAMINUM MURIATICUM (histamine) Allergic reactions with asthma-like symptoms, including bronchial and respiratory irritation keynote Histaminum. There will be dryness of the mucus membranes of the nose and throat. Other symptoms include edema, hives, itching, and redness of the eyelids.
RANUNCULUS SCELERATUS (marsh buttercup) Look for the characteristic mapped or peeled looking tongue with rawness and burning that extends into the throat. The person will be experiencing fluent coryza with much sneezing. This formula also contains remedies made from a variety of molds, yeasts, and dusts not identified specifically by the manufacturer.

Allergies #6 (6X)

For allergic reactions to and liver toxicity caused by chemical inhalants.

EUPHRASIA OFFICINALIS (eyebright) Euphrasia is specific for allergic reactions with a pronounced action on the eyes. Symptoms include eye irritation with discharge and copious watering, glandular swellings, and very offensive sweat as the body attempts to detoxify from the inhaled poisons.
WYETHIA HELENOIDES (poison weed) With Wyethia, there are reactions which target the throat but have a history of dropping quickly into the chest. There is swelling of the glands in the right side of the neck with a characteristic itching of the upper palate.
NAPHTHALINUM (tar camphor) Naphthalinum is said to reduce the suffering from the inflamed, bloodshot eyes of the hay fever season. Other symptoms include attacks of sneezing, skin rashes, eczema and psoriasis.
HISTAMINUM MURIATICUM (histamine) Symptoms of Histaminum include allergic reactions with asthma-like symptoms including bronchial irritation and dryness of the mucus membranes of nose and throat. Other symptoms include edema, hives, itching, and redness of the eyelids.
NATRUM MURIATICUM (sodium chloride) Natrum displays the usual symptoms of hay fever and allergies with the additional discomfort of blinding headaches, fluttering and palpitations of the heart with constriction of the chest and high blood pressure.
TABACUM NICOTIANA (tobacco) This remedy is for the more serious, advancing toward anaphylactic shock, symptoms of severe allergic reactions. There will be high tension of the coronary arteries with intermittent pulse. As the reaction worsens, the person will experience icy coldness with sweat, fainting and nausea. Complete prostration of the entire muscular system and severe mental confusion is a possibility if things are allowed to get worse without intervention.
ARSENICUM ALBUM Arsenicum is the first remedy to reach for in any acute ailment whether it is a cold, hay fever, influenza or food poisoning. Shortness of breath is a keynote symptom with extreme restlessness, or anxiety and restlessness, presenting alternately.

Allergies #7 (6X)

Predominantly for tree pollen allergies.

CARDUUS MARIANUS (St. Mary’s thistle) The major focus of this remedy is for liver dysfunction which, of course, often plays a role in allergic reactions. Other keynote symptoms are pressure in eyelids and eyeballs, pressing pain in the throat on speaking or swallowing. Swallowing is usually very painful with a painful burning sensation.
EQUISETUM HYEMALE (horsetail) Horsetail, herbally, is a remedy for kidney issues and the same is true for the homeopathic form of this wonderful herb. When the kidneys are eliminating properly and maintaining proper water levels in the body, allergic reactions are less likely and less severe if they do occur. Sharp pain in the outer angle of the eye—more often in the right one. There may also be a sharp sticking pain in the throat.
IRIS VERSICOLOR (blue flag) Symptoms include burning of the mouth, tongue and throat, redness and inflammation of the eyelids with burning in the inner canthuses, and vision disturbances with headache.
RANUNCULUS SCELERATUS (marsh buttercup) The focus of Ranunculus for allergies is pain in chest/lung area that is worse for deep breathing and a raw and burning tongue with pain in the throat.
ZINCUM PHOSPHORICUM (zinc phosphide) With Zincum allergies there will be foggy vision. Zincum is also a tonic for the kidneys and useful for lung issues and asthma-type symptoms.

Allergies #8 (6X)

Hayfever with headache and glandular swelling or sweating

EUPHRASIA OFFICINALIS (eyebright) Allergic reactions with a specific action on the eyes are typical. There will be eye irritation with discharge and copious watering. There may also be glandular swellings and very offensive sweat as the body attempts to detoxify from the poisons that have been inhaled.
PSEUDO-NARCISSUS (daffodil) The Pseudo-narcissus picture includes allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, frontal headache, increased pulse, increased flow of saliva, severe coryza of the nose and the opposite symptoms of dryness in the throat rather than an increased flow of saliva.
RANUNCULUS SCELERATUS (marsh buttercup) A keynote of Ranunculus sceleratus is the severe burning and scraping sensations in the throat. There may be fluent coryza with attacks of sneezing accompanied by headaches in which the head feels as if it were too large.
SULPHURICUM ACIDUM (Sulphuric acid) Various types of coryza from the nose with a copious flow that is thin, watery discharge that is a bit lemony is a major symptom here. Alternatively, as so often happens in the symptom pictures of homeopathic remedies, the symptoms may present the opposite pattern of dryness in the nose with loss of the senses of smell and taste. The symptoms that respond to Sulphuric acidum often include itching all over with boils or abscesses on the skin.

March Featured Carrier Oils

Evening Primrose Carrier OilEvening Primrose Oil is used topically and as a supplement. This is because it contains many essential fatty acids.  This includes one of the highest concentrations known of GLA or gamma-linolenic acid which is found in very few other plants. These acids are essential for cell structure and the improvement of the elasticity of the skin. They help regulate hormones and improve nerve function. This aids in problems ranging from PMS to migraine headaches. Deficiencies in these fatty acids have been implicated in many disorders.  Those include asthma, migraines, inflammation, metabolic irregularities, diabetes, arthritis, hormone imbalances, and alcoholism.

Evening Primrose Oil has been used for acne, allergies, arteriosclerosis, asthma, cholesterol regulation, chronic headaches, diabetic nerve damage, dermatitis, eczema, hyperactivity in children, high cholesterol, impotence and female infertility, inflammation, lupus, multiple sclerosis, prostate health, psoriasis, obesity, rheumatoid arthritis, rosacea, scleroderma, to treat Alzheimer’s-related memory deficiencies, and upset stomach. It nourishes nails, scalp, and hair. Prevents alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Relieves the discomforts of PMS (premenstrual syndrome), menstruation, menopause, endometriosis, and fibrocystic breasts. Minimizes premenstrual breast tenderness, irritable bowel flare-ups, and carbohydrate cravings, and helps to control endometriosis-associated inflammation.

Shea Nut Carrier OilShea Nut Oil contains vitamin A and the same natural moisturizers produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin, making it a great emollient that softens and strengthens the skin.

It improves skin elasticity and a number of skin conditions including blemishes, wrinkles, scars, eczema, and dermatitis.
