March 2022 – Allergies

When we hear the term allergy, most people think of such symptoms as a runny nose, red and watering eyes, swelling of some tissues somewhere, rashes, hives, or some other form of itching.  With no distinction made, the term allergy is also used to refer to more serious reactions to substances.  More serious reactions include headaches, heart palpitations, and, eventually, anaphylactic shock.  Among those who work with allergies, these two sets of symptoms are considered to be very separate categories with two separate names.  This is true both in the medical world and among “alternative” practitioners, as well.  The names most commonly used to distinguish the two categories are allergy and intolerance.  Intolerances are sometimes referred to as sensitivities.  More information can be found in the blog. Austyn Essential Oil Blend

LeAustyn is helpful for regulating and maintaining the thyroid, hypothalamus, and nervous system. It brings circulation, increased blood flow, and oxygen to cells. It contains essential oils that are known for being gently stimulating, raising energy levels, and encouraging lymphatic drainage. Regulating our endocrine system can have many health benefits. These include improving metabolism, helping to maintain our internal clock, controlling blood pressure, and heart rate. The endocrine system influences every cell, organ, and function in the body. The endocrine system regulates appetite, nutrient absorption, and nutrient storage. The hypothalamus maintains the body’s internal balance (homeostasis). The hypothalamus is considered the link between the nervous system and the endocrine system. The nervous system is the major controlling, regulatory, and communication system of the body. It controls your movements, thoughts, and automatic responses to the world around you. In essence, LeAustyn can have a beneficial impact on every system in the body.

LeAustyn can be applied, diluted, directly to the throat to aid the thyroid, or to any area of concern. Add a few drops to the tub. Diffuse to alleviate tension, lift depression, or as part of a recovery plan for eating disorders.

Emotionally  LeAustyn is great for people who are trying to overcome the fear of failure or the fear of making decisions. It is wonderful for the person who is fearful of the changes that they are facing and encourages them to be willing to go outside of their usual boundaries. LeAustyn soothes anger and helps us find emotional balance. Each of the essential oils contained in LeAustyn have emotionally supportive characteristics. This blend is especially suited to teenagers as they begin to transition from childhood to adulthood. Teenagers face making decisions on their own that, sometimes, they do not feel equipped to make. The mental health risk factors for eating disorders can include anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Social stressors such as peer pressure and bullying can be the start of eating disorders and other negative behaviors. LeAustyn can help anyone stay grounded in their beliefs, soothe nervousness, calm anxiety, and let them feel more emotionally stable.

LeAustyn can be used in conjunction with LeEndoRelief to boost the endocrine system and help promote vitality. Layer it with LeEndoRelief and LeLife Force during times of sickness to help build and strengthen your body during an illness, and to lessen the duration of an illness. Use LeAustyn with other emotional blends such as LeAngel or LeWhispering Hope to help with emotional drivers that can aid recovery from eating disorders.

January Oils

The three blends and three singles that were chosen for March are all helpful for dealing with Allergies.

ExhaleLeExhale is a combination of stimulating and soothing that is useful for relieving congestion, colds, and coughs.

LeExhale is antibacterial, helps encourage lymphatic drainage, stimulates the immune system, aids circulation, and brings a high percentage of cineole with the Eucalyptus Radiata in it that is believed to be the component that relieves colds and congestion.

The Ravensara in LeExhale helps fight viral strains and, along with Tea Tree, aids in tissue rebuilding, while killing some of the nastiest microbes on the planet.

LeExhale is cool and soothing when we are feeling stuffed up and unable to allow our repressed or pent-up emotions to flow. Colds and congestion often occur when we are feeling “congestion” somewhere in our lives. LeExhale stimulates our minds to look for fresh new ideas and emotions that will serve us better, allowing the body to return to a state of wellness.

Seasons

LeSeasons is amazing for clearing out the sinuses and for relieving a sinus headache. This blend should be used for colds, allergies, sinus congestion, and sinus headaches. LeSeasons helps the lymph system drain and strengthens the immune system. The cool mint sensation of LeSeasons can help lessen the pain of sore throats, body aches, and pains, and help cool a fever.

LeSeasons should be diluted and applied to the sinus areas. It can be diluted and put on the chest or the feet. Diffuse, or apply to a plastic inhaler, to use when needed. A drop may be added to the bath, but use caution due to the Peppermint.

All essential oils impact emotions, and while LeSeasons is primarily a physical blend it will help bring clarity of thought, help improve attention span, help us analyze our resentments, and then help us let go of that which no longer serves us. It is a stimulating blend and can bring a renewed sense of energy.

ThermaCare

LeThermaCare was specifically designed to aid in gently reducing the very high fevers we often see with the high-powered and quick-onset flu “bugs” that are so prevalent in the world today. The use of this essential oil to reduce fever is especially nice with children. The essential oils contained in LeThermaCare are gentle. They stimulate the body’s defense while calming the nerves and soothing the spirit. In addition to the fever-reducing properties of the Yarrow and the Peppermint, the Coriander is well renowned for giving strength both during an illness and during the convalescent stages.  This in my opinion is what makes it so helpful for allergies.

LeThermaCare should be diluted well and applied to the back of the neck and down the spine. It is also effective to apply LeThermaCare to the bottom of the feet. It is better to apply this essential oil blend to the body, rather than diffusing it.

Eucalyptus Globulus

Eucalyptus is a very versatile and useful essential oil. It can be used to cool the body in summer and protect from bacteria and viruses in the winter. Eucalyptus is useful for bronchitis, colds, flu, asthma, and any problem in the respiratory system including symptoms from allergic reactions. Eucalyptus is one of the best oils for bringing down a fever.

Eucalyptus is a strong analgesic. It can be applied alone or as part of a blend for muscle aches and headaches. Eucalyptus alleviates mental exhaustion and stabilizes blood sugar levels in both hypoglycemia and diabetes. Well diluted, Eucalyptus is good for skin rashes and makes a very good energizing massage oil. Eucalyptus becomes more antiseptic with age if it has been stored and handled properly.

Eucalyptus should be applied to the feet, and on areas where anti-inflammatory properties are needed. Eucalyptus, or a blend containing it, can be diluted and applied to the chest for respiratory congestion and infections. If used in small amounts, Eucalyptus makes a good addition to massage oils. Eucalyptus applied under and on each side of the nose brings quick relief for clogged sinus cavities.

Niaouli

Niaouli has been shown in studies to be a general immune system booster and effective as a response to allergic reactions. This oil is an excellent antiseptic for treating pulmonary infections, bronchitis, coughs, sinus congestion, and sore throats. The anti-inflammatory properties of this oil make it useful for muscle aches. Niaouli, being a member of the Tea Tree family, is very antiseptic. It is useful for skin conditions such as cuts, boils, burns, insect bites, and acne.

Niaouli can be diluted and applied to any area of the body. It makes a very good disinfectant. Niaouli is often found in pharmaceutical preparations such as gargles, cough drops, toothpastes, and mouth sprays.

Niaouli is a member of the melaleuca (Tea Tree) species, but has a sweeter, more delicate scent than the alternafolia variety that we are most familiar with. The aroma of this oil can clear the mind and help us stay alert. Niaouli is a great aid to concentration.

Patchouli

Patchouli’s affinity for liver function makes it a valuable oil for allergies and mild autoimmune disorders.

Patchouli essential oil improves hormone balance and aids the liver and kidneys by discharging toxins. Patchouli can help with constipation when the emotional roots are holding on to every material thing and element of safety that we can.

Patchouli is an oil I have come to love for its effect on physical exhaustion and chronic fatigue. Patchouli is a tissue regenerating oil. It aids with scarring, rashes, eczema, and bacterial and fungal infections. Patchouli is especially good for vaginal infections such as candida and others.

Patchouli is a great skin oil. Dilute and apply it everywhere!

February Oils

Featured Blend

Life ForceLeLife Force should be used following any illness or traumatic experience that has left one feeling weak, shaky, or on edge. This blend can make a big difference in the recovery period of accidents and illnesses. LeLife Force builds, strengthens, and protects the body because it is an immune and adrenal gland stimulant and toner. Use it with LeEndoRelief during the cold and flu season. You may avoid getting sick altogether, and, if you do catch something, the illness will have a shorter duration and recovery period.

Often used for fever, dilute and apply along the spine. For bronchitis, use LeLife Force with LeAspire or LeBreezey applied to the chest. For an earache, put 1 drop of LeLife Force in a carrier oil and put it into the ear. In addition, I like to put 2 or 3 drops of BBL tincture in the ear. BBL will numb the pain and cause any inflammation to dissipate through a multitude of small holes which heal quickly (instead of in one large rupture which is the way ears usually deal with inflammation).

Soaking your feet in very hot water to which 2 or 3 drops of LeLife Force has been added, can assist the body to detoxify, especially from environmental poisons and medications. The combination of immune stimulant properties and detoxifying capabilities make LeLife Force effective against allergies and other mild auto-immune dysfunctions.

BergamotChamomile Roman cleanses the blood and reduces allergic reactions. Allergy sufferers can find a great deal of relief by carrying an inhaler or just a few drops of this oil on a tissue or cotton ball. Chamomile Roman is an antihistamine and soothing to inflamed tissues.

This variety of Chamomile, though containing less deep blue azulene, has anti-inflammatory properties. It is of benefit when applied to aching muscles and joints. Because it is so mild and soothing, Chamomile Roman is wonderful in the tub or used in a compress. This oil is very soothing for menstrual cramps, nausea, PMS, tension, and nerves.

Chamomile Roman can be applied to the base of the neck, on the temples, and over the liver.

The aroma of Chamomile Roman, in my opinion, is the most relaxing scent in the entire essential oil world. Chamomile Roman is powerfully soothing. The soothing action of this oil applies to both physical and emotional conditions alike. Diffused, this oil creates an atmosphere of peace and patience.

Chamomile Roman smooths the flow of the chi energy throughout the body. It is this regulation of vital energy that makes Chamomile Roman so powerfully soothing to both physical and emotional conditions. In fact, so powerfully does this oil unravel the negative emotions behind physical ailments, that it is sometimes hard to tell if it is working at an emotional or a physical level. Chamomile Roman is of great benefit in the treatment of chronic headaches, insomnia, nervous indigestion and nausea, and irritable bowel syndrome—to name just a few.

The smoothing out of the vital energy prevents the build-up of energetic heat, which manifests in the body as inflammation. This Chamomile is particularly beneficial for alleviating neuritis, cystitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and earache.

One of the outstanding uses of Chamomile Roman essential oil is for babies with colic, babies who startle awake and then cry for a long time, and infants that are just plain fussy and want to be held and comforted most of the day and night.

Lotions

These homemade natural lotions are gentle enough for all skin types. They are paraben free, formaldehyde free, and they contain no petroleum products, no animal products, and no artificial fragrances or dyes. The carrier oils used in these Lotions are wonderful for all skin conditions including rashes caused by an allergic reaction.

Each of the plant-based carrier oils in these lotions have exceptional healing properties for skincare. Here is a little bit on each of them.
Sunflower Oil restores proper moisture balance in the skin, whether the problem is dryness or excessive oiliness.
Cocoa Butter has antioxidant properties that fight free radicals, help prevent dryness and peeling, fight signs of aging, and soothe rashes and irritated skin. Good for sensitive skin.
Vitamin E Oil is known for its high level of antioxidant properties, making it great for damaged skin and preventing the skin from showing signs of aging.
Argan Oil helps fight lines, repairs imperfections, minimizes scars and stretch marks, and restores texture, elasticity and tone to the skin.
Aloe Vera Extract extract increases the elasticity of the skin making it more flexible through collagen and elastin repair. Aloe is emollient and helps supply oxygen to the skin cells. It is great for sunburned skin.

The addition of essential oils to these lotions means they can be used in a variety of ways.  I use several of them on a regular basis.

LeAgeless Lotion: LeAgeLess is made from nine essential oils, each one bringing its unique healing and regenerating properties to this astonishing blend. This combination of essential oils assists in maintaining or developing beautiful and healthy skin one cell at a time. Some of the oils in this blend prevent free radical damage. Others are useful in repairing damage caused by wind and sun. Daily use of this blend can be helpful in strengthening fragile capillaries and bringing a healthy, radiant glow to the skin.

LeAboutFace Lotion: LeAboutFace is an excellent skin regeneration oil and is mild enough to be used on the face. Frankincense oil is known for its potent anti-aging qualities. It promotes the regeneration of healthy cells, helps eliminate sun spots, and generally tones and tightens skin.

LeBaby Me Lotion: LeBaby Me contains ingredients that increase skin elasticity, retard wrinkles, enhance skin tone and remove scaly patches. This blend is also used to reduce or prevent stretch marks during and after pregnancy. LeBaby Me makes an excellent diaper rash cream. It is wonderful for skin conditioning and makes an excellent aftershave for sensitive skin.

Carrier Lotion: Carrier Lotion is an unscented lotion that can be used on its own, or when applying you can add whatever essential oil you are in the mood for that day. This lotion is a wonderful alternative to using a carrier oil like coconut oil or almond oil for the application of all your essential oils because it absorbs quickly and completely leaving no mess or residue behind.

LeIntention Lotion: This is a citrus scented lotion. LeIntention essential oil blend tightens and tones the skin and tissues, and increases circulation. The oils in this blend help to dissolve cellulite, brighten pale, dull, or oily complexions, and are beneficial in the treatment of wrinkles as they hydrate and strengthen the skin. This blend also has a building and sustaining influence on energy levels.

Lavender Lotion: Lavender is very gentle and can be used for nearly all skin conditions. It can be applied to cuts, sunburns, burns, rashes, dermatitis, eczema, and insect bites. Consistent use of Lavender with burns and injuries minimizes scarring. This is a great after-sun lotion.

LeSego Lily Lotion: LeSego Lily is a blend for skin care and health. It promotes skin elasticity and may seem to slow the process of aging as it nourishes the skin and smooths out wrinkles. LeSego Lily can be used to bring relief from the itching of hives and allergic rashes. LeSego Lily is light and airy with a beautiful, uplifting aroma.

Sun Shade Lotion: Sun Shade Lotion is designed to provide light sun cover without chemicals. It contains all-natural oils that inherently have an SPF factor ranging from 28-50 in red raspberry seed oil, 38-40 for carrot seed oil, 20 in wheat germ oil, 4-15 in avocado oil, and 2-4 for cocoa butter. Mango butter and cranberry seed oil help to protect against UV rays. These oils have been mixed with water and emulsifiers to make a lotion, so they are only part of the final product. With any product used for sun protection, it is a good idea to reapply every 60 to 90 minutes. For extra protection, you can apply more than one layer.

Carrier Oils

Carrier or base oils are often applied in conjunction with an essential oil. The common industry term for carrier oils is fixed oils. These oils are made from vegetables, nuts, or seeds and often have therapeutic properties of their own.   The carrier oils used in therapeutic settings should be cold pressed and organically grown rather than produced by chemical methods. This is an important distinction, as some of the carrier oil will be absorbed into the body along with the essential oil.

Because carrier oils are made from seeds, vegetables, and especially nuts allergic reactions can occur.  You can check our allergy information for carrier oils here.

Carrier oils are used for several different reasons. One major reason is that pure essential oils are often too concentrated to be applied undiluted to the skin. Adding essential oils to a carrier also allows the oil to be spread over a larger application area and to be absorbed more evenly. Many essential oils are quite expensive, and because they are so highly concentrated, one or two drops may be all that you need. The use of a smaller quantity is often more beneficial than a larger quantity and is certainly less likely to cause any type of reaction.

My father explains one of the needs for carrier oil when using essential oils in this way. Imagine putting an alcohol-based primer on hot asphalt prior to painting it. That would be almost impossible since the alcohol would evaporate almost before it touched the road. Essential oils behave in a similar manner. They are made of several different constituents, some of which evaporate at lower temperatures and faster rates than others. Place these essential oils on the skin (90 – 95 degrees) and the higher, more volatile notes are gone before they can be absorbed. A carrier oil stabilizes the essential oil, holding onto all the constituents until they can be absorbed. The chemical composition of the oil remains intact.

Each carrier, or protein oil as they are sometimes referred to, has its own characteristics and ways of reacting to the various essential oils. Because of the different parts of plants used to make Carrier Oils, like seeds and nuts, people with allergies to these things should be careful which carrier oil they choose.

Allergy Specific Carrier Oils

I’ve listed all the Carrier Oils above. Now I would like to talk about 2 specific carrier oils that are beneficial for allergies.

Evening Primrose Oil: Evening Primrose Oil is used topically and as a supplement. It contains many essential fatty acids including one of the highest concentrations known of GLA or gamma-linolenic acid which is found in very few other plants. These acids are essential for cell structure and improvement of the elasticity of the skin, and help regulate hormones and improve nerve function aiding in problems ranging from PMS to migraine headaches. Deficiencies in these fatty acids have been implicated in many disorders including asthma, migraines, inflammation, metabolic irregularities, diabetes, arthritis, hormone imbalances, and alcoholism.

Evening Primrose Oil has been used for-acne, allergies, arteriosclerosis, asthma, cholesterol regulation, chronic headaches, diabetic nerve damage, dermatitis, eczema, hyperactivity in children, high cholesterol, impotence and female infertility, inflammation, lupus, multiple sclerosis, prostate health, psoriasis, obesity, rheumatoid arthritis, rosacea, scleroderma, to treat Alzheimer’s-related memory deficiencies, and upset stomach. It nourishes nails, scalp, and hair. Prevents alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Relieves the discomforts of PMS (premenstrual syndrome), menstruation, menopause, endometriosis, and fibrocystic breasts. Minimizes premenstrual breast tenderness, irritable bowel flare-ups, and carbohydrate cravings, and helps to control endometriosis-associated inflammation.

Shea Butter and Shea Oil: The Butter is solid at room temperature, while the oil has been fractionated so that it remains a liquid at room temperature. Shea contains vitamin A and the same natural moisturizers produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin, making it a great emollient that softens and strengthens the skin. It improves skin elasticity and a number of skin conditions including blemishes, wrinkles, scars, eczema, and dermatitis. It is also known for its ability to treat skin allergies, rashes and itchy skin, insect bites, sunburns (helps after sun exposure and as a sunscreen with an SPF 6), frostbite, and accelerated wound healing.

Allergies Blessed Water Kit

Allergies Blessed Water Kit

An allergy is an inappropriate response by the body to any substance that is not harmful to most people. The immune system, which is supposed to protect us from toxins and pathogens, wrongly identifies a substance as harmful to us and goes into action. The response can be anywhere from mildly annoying to symptoms severe enough to create an anaphylactic shock. These types of allergies grow worse with each reaction; they are NOT something that a person typically grows out of.

There are 8 combination Allergy Blessed Waters.  These blessed waters cover a large variety of different allergies and different allergy symptoms. They are now available all in one kit.  The following information can be printed as a kit insert here.

Allergies #1 (7X)

This is a great remedy to use for shellfish allergies or when you are not sure of the cause of your allergy.

GRINDELIA ROBUSTA (rosin-wood) The symptoms here are a full range of allergic responses such as lung disorders, respiratory distress, asthma, rashes, and itching eyes.
URTICA URENS (stinging nettle) This polycrest remedy has a wide range of severe allergic reactions in its symptom picture and is especially suited for use with bee stings and for the ill effects of eating shellfish. Unusual and noteworthy symptoms include chronic gout, joint pain, hives, itchy blisters on fingers and hands, and burning pain in the throat.
HYDROPHYLLUM VIRGINICUM (Virginia waterleaf) Hydrophyllum’s range of action includes symptoms relating to the eyes. Among them will be swollen eyelids, eye inflammation, itching, and sensitivity to light.

Allergies #2 (6X)

This remedy is for neuralgic headaches, bites, stings, and coughs.

GUACO (climbing hempweed) Guaco grows in tropical areas and has a local reputation for relief from the bites of scorpions and snakes. This remedy acts predominantly on the nervous system. Outstanding symptoms are pain along the spine and constriction and feeling of paralysis in the throat.
CADMIUM METALLICUM (cadmium metal) Cadmium markedly affects the eyes with light sensitivity, burning, and inflammation occurring. There may be extreme neuralgic headaches, difficult respiration with coughs that are mucus-filled—sometimes blood-streaked—with bronchial and pulmonary distress. Chronic dermatitis is often seen.
EUPHORBIUM OFFICINARUM (gum euphorbium) The symptom picture includes hay fever, headache, inflammation of the eyelids with itching, constant dry cough with a hollow sound, dryness of the mouth with a white-coated tongue, and ringing in the ears—especially when sneezing and at night.

Allergies #3 (9X)

Allergic reactions that mimic the common cold and affect the kidneys or heart.

APIS MELLIFICA (honey bee) Allergy symptoms of Apis include burning, itching, and inflammation of serous membranes, excessive swelling with edema, kidney distress, and heart troubles. Apis can be useful for both mild situations and serious allergic shock reactions.
ALLIUM CEPA (red onion) Allium covers more symptoms of common colds and hay fever than any other remedy. The eyes feel as though you are cutting up raw onions at the moment. There will be increased secretions from mucus membranes, hacking cough, dripping nose, sneezing, fever with thirst, hoarseness, and a sensation of a lump in the throat.

Allergies #4 (6X)

Specifically for allergies to animal hair but often useful for other allergies when the symptom picture fits the allergies the person is experiencing.

GRINDELIA ROBUSTA (rosin-wood) The symptoms here are a full range of allergic responses such as lung disorders, respiratory distress, asthma, rashes, and itching eyes.
PINUS SYLVESTRIS (Scotch pine) The picture of Pinus is predominantly lung symptoms similar to what is experienced with bronchitis. A lot of mucus but the accompanying cough is short and dry. There are feelings of tightness in the chest with impaired ability to breathe.
VERATRUM ALBUM (white hellebore) Veratrum symptoms always include profound prostration, and near total collapse with extreme coldness and weakness. There may be spasmodic contractions of the muscles of the chest. With veratrum type symptoms everything comes on suddenly.
GELSEMIUM SEMPERVIRENS (yellow jasmine) The most notable symptom of Gelsemium is burning in the larynx and chest when coughing. There will be extreme itching of the skin but there may or may not be any eruptions. The person will be trembling with weak, aching muscles as the reaction progresses.
PSORINUM (scabies nosode) Psorinum is specific for allergies and hay fever which are a family inheritance related to the Psora miasm. Offensive, foul-smelling discharges of all sorts. Hot sensation in chest with a great deal of pain. The keynote Psora pattern of remedies working well for a time but then failing to produce effective results with the need to find another remedy and then another in order to keep healing progressing will be present.

Allergies #5 (8X)

Particularly for reactions to mold, yeast, or dust.

SILICA TERRA (pure flint) Bruised pain in chest when coughing or breathing deeply. Itchy eruptions, mostly on the chest area and chronic skin rashes appearing at any time. Asthma-like symptoms as a result of allergies, usually worse in the early fall. Violent cough, especially when lying down. Chronic catarrh and coryza in the nose and sinuses.
PHOSPHORUS (the element) Phosphorus ailments can be insidious—gradually increasing in their effect on the entire system. The allergic reactions of Phosphorus consist of irritation, inflammation, and degeneration of the mucus membranes. There may be a feeling of a great weight on the chest, with difficulty breathing and feelings of heat throughout the body. There is frequent itching and burning of the eyes with sensitivity to wind.
HISTAMINUM MURIATICUM (histamine) Allergic reactions with asthma-like symptoms, including bronchial and respiratory irritation keynote Histaminum. There will be dryness of the mucus membranes of the nose and throat. Other symptoms include edema, hives, itching, and redness of the eyelids.
RANUNCULUS SCELERATUS (marsh buttercup) Look for the characteristic mapped or peeled looking tongue with rawness and burning that extends into the throat. The person will be experiencing fluent coryza with much sneezing. This formula also contains remedies made from a variety of molds, yeasts, and dusts not identified specifically by the manufacturer.

Allergies #6 (6X)

For allergic reactions to and liver toxicity caused by chemical inhalants.

EUPHRASIA OFFICINALIS (eyebright) Euphrasia is specific for allergic reactions with a pronounced action on the eyes. Symptoms include eye irritation with discharge and copious watering, glandular swellings, and very offensive sweat as the body attempts to detoxify from the inhaled poisons.
WYETHIA HELENOIDES (poison weed) With Wyethia, there are reactions which target the throat but have a history of dropping quickly into the chest. There is swelling of the glands in the right side of the neck with a characteristic itching of the upper palate.
NAPHTHALINUM (tar camphor) Naphthalinum is said to reduce the suffering from the inflamed, bloodshot eyes of the hay fever season. Other symptoms include attacks of sneezing, skin rashes, eczema and psoriasis.
HISTAMINUM MURIATICUM (histamine) Symptoms of Histaminum include allergic reactions with asthma-like symptoms including bronchial irritation and dryness of the mucus membranes of nose and throat. Other symptoms include edema, hives, itching, and redness of the eyelids.
NATRUM MURIATICUM (sodium chloride) Natrum displays the usual symptoms of hay fever and allergies with the additional discomfort of blinding headaches, fluttering and palpitations of the heart with constriction of the chest and high blood pressure.
TABACUM NICOTIANA (tobacco) This remedy is for the more serious, advancing toward anaphylactic shock, symptoms of severe allergic reactions. There will be high tension of the coronary arteries with intermittent pulse. As the reaction worsens, the person will experience icy coldness with sweat, fainting and nausea. Complete prostration of the entire muscular system and severe mental confusion is a possibility if things are allowed to get worse without intervention.
ARSENICUM ALBUM Arsenicum is the first remedy to reach for in any acute ailment whether it is a cold, hay fever, influenza or food poisoning. Shortness of breath is a keynote symptom with extreme restlessness, or anxiety and restlessness, presenting alternately.

Allergies #7 (6X)

Predominantly for tree pollen allergies.

CARDUUS MARIANUS (St. Mary’s thistle) The major focus of this remedy is for liver dysfunction which, of course, often plays a role in allergic reactions. Other keynote symptoms are pressure in eyelids and eyeballs, pressing pain in the throat on speaking or swallowing. Swallowing is usually very painful with a painful burning sensation.
EQUISETUM HYEMALE (horsetail) Horsetail, herbally, is a remedy for kidney issues and the same is true for the homeopathic form of this wonderful herb. When the kidneys are eliminating properly and maintaining proper water levels in the body, allergic reactions are less likely and less severe if they do occur. Sharp pain in the outer angle of the eye—more often in the right one. There may also be a sharp sticking pain in the throat.
IRIS VERSICOLOR (blue flag) Symptoms include burning of the mouth, tongue and throat, redness and inflammation of the eyelids with burning in the inner canthuses, and vision disturbances with headache.
RANUNCULUS SCELERATUS (marsh buttercup) The focus of Ranunculus for allergies is pain in chest/lung area that is worse for deep breathing and a raw and burning tongue with pain in the throat.
ZINCUM PHOSPHORICUM (zinc phosphide) With Zincum allergies there will be foggy vision. Zincum is also a tonic for the kidneys and useful for lung issues and asthma-type symptoms.

Allergies #8 (6X)

Hayfever with headache and glandular swelling or sweating

EUPHRASIA OFFICINALIS (eyebright) Allergic reactions with a specific action on the eyes are typical. There will be eye irritation with discharge and copious watering. There may also be glandular swellings and very offensive sweat as the body attempts to detoxify from the poisons that have been inhaled.
PSEUDO-NARCISSUS (daffodil) The Pseudo-narcissus picture includes allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, frontal headache, increased pulse, increased flow of saliva, severe coryza of the nose and the opposite symptoms of dryness in the throat rather than an increased flow of saliva.
RANUNCULUS SCELERATUS (marsh buttercup) A keynote of Ranunculus sceleratus is the severe burning and scraping sensations in the throat. There may be fluent coryza with attacks of sneezing accompanied by headaches in which the head feels as if it were too large.
SULPHURICUM ACIDUM (Sulphuric acid) Various types of coryza from the nose with a copious flow that is thin, watery discharge that is a bit lemony is a major symptom here. Alternatively, as so often happens in the symptom pictures of homeopathic remedies, the symptoms may present the opposite pattern of dryness in the nose with loss of the senses of smell and taste. The symptoms that respond to Sulphuric acidum often include itching all over with boils or abscesses on the skin.
