In January our focus is on SELF-IMPROVEMENT and SELF-LOVE

I am really excited about the things I have picked to discuss this month.  When my team and I decided to focus on SELF-IMPROVEMENT and SELF-LOVE so many wonderful products came to mind.  We had a hard time narrowing the list down to our favorites.  I can’t wait to share them with you. January is often a time when we take stock of our life and set goals for improvement so this seems like a great time to discuss Self-Improvement and Self-Love.  This blog is still likely to get long so I have included a LIST OF COVERED TOPICS  I hope this helps you quickly find the information you are looking for.

New Stuff

ElderberryI am so excited to announce that Butterfly Express has a new glycerin tincture.  They have taken Elderberries and Elderflowers and put them into a glycerin syrup that is amazing.

I have been using this with my kids for about a month now and we love it. One friend told me she wanted to put it on her pancakes.

Let’s talk about the amazing benefits of ElderberryElderberries are antioxidant powerhouses and are said to prevent cell damage, even in the toxic environment that modern life has created for each of us. Elderberries contain vitamin C, iron, potassium, phosphorus, copper, calcium, vitamin B6, beta carotenes, and proteins. Elderflower increases circulation and will bring down a fever by producing a healing sweat as quickly as any herbal agent that I know of. Elderflower also acts as an expectorant, with anti-catarrhal and anti-inflammatory actions. I reach for Elderberry Syrup for coughs, colds, and fevers. Elderberry builds the immune system and has a great taste, making it easy to give to children.

BathBombsThere is something else that has recently changed at Butterfly. These amazing Bath Bombs are now being made in their facility. They are now available in two sizes. The regular 7.5oz and 5oz for those with smaller tubs.  There are still five amazing bath bombs to choose from.
LeDeeper is their best seller and is used for sore, tired muscles.
LeHeartSong is a floral bath bomb great for depression and sadness.
LeMillenia is the one I grab if I think anything is out of place.  My neck, back, hips, anything.
LeSweet Relief is wonderful for migraines, headaches, strains, sprains, or cramps.
LeTranquility is a favorite for panic attacks and anxiety.

Rescue Remedy - Bioplasma

Self-improvement and Self-love brought to mind two of my favorite homeopathic remedies, Rescue Remedy and Bioplasma. These are probably two of the most used remedies at my house.

Rescue Remedy

Rescue Remedy can be regarded as a single remedy although it is a composite of 5 flower essences. This is most effective when used on the occasion of any profound trauma or emergency in helping the person cope with extreme pain and shock. Rescue Remedy brings immediate calm and helps with the physical and emotional aspects of shock.

This formula is useful for energy work when the client becomes too involved in the trauma they are trying to work on. I have also found this remedy to be a wonderful resource for children that are upset or frightened.

CHERRY PLUM (flower essence)

Cherry Plum increases feelings of being guided and protected. It nourishes spiritual surrender and trust, allowing for stability even in times of crisis. This remedy alleviates fears of losing control in stressful situations and calms the mind during times of extremes of tension and fear.

CLEMATIS (flower essence)

Clematis is for states of shock where there is a need to bring the person into focus on the present moment because it encourages practical and helpful responses to stress and injury.

IMPATIENS (flower essence)

Impatiens helps to inspire patience and acceptance of circumstances and the flow of things around them. (I love that the name impatiens reminds me of the lack of patience I so often display when I am under stress!) Impatiens is in this remedy to provide the calm assurance that things are being taken care of in a timely, or at least acceptable, fashion and that things will turn out OK.

ROCK ROSE (flower essence)

Rock Rose is a remedy for the inspiring of courage, inner peace, and tranquility when facing great challenges or even injuries. This remedy helps to bring calmness in the face of deep fear, terror, panic, and the fear of death or serious pain. Rock Rose is of value whenever there is extreme fear, pain, grief, or loneliness.

STAR OF BETHLEHEM (flower essence)

Star of Bethlehem increases a person’s ability to accept help from the spiritual realm. Star of Bethlehem is a deeply restorative remedy—it can bring a sense of calm peacefulness and the assurance that there is help from loved ones beyond the veil. This remedy is useful for any shock or trauma—makes little difference whether the event was recent or was in the distant past.

All five of these remedies may be used on their own, but they are particularly effective when combined into a single bottle and administered together in this manner.

Bioplasma

Bioplasma is made up of all 12 Tissue Salts combined. It coagulates the blood in a serious, deep cut where bleeding is profuse. Bioplasma stimulates the body to uptake and utilize trace minerals. It stabilizes nerves and nerve tissue and promotes healing in any type of wound or injury. Great for fatigue, colds, nervous tension, bleeding, and headaches.

The 12 Tissue Salts in Bioplasma are: CALCAREA FLUORATA (calcium fluoride), CALCAREA PHOSPHORICA (calcium phosphate), CALCAREA SULPHURICA (calcium sulfate), FERRUM PHOSPHORICUM (phosphate of iron), KALI MURIATICUM (potassium chloride), KALI PHOSPHORICUM (potassium phosphate), KALI SULPHURICUM (potassium sulfate), MAGNESIA PHOSPHORICA (Magnesium phosphate), NATRUM MURIATICUM (sodium chloride), NATRUM PHOSPHORICUM (sodium phosphate), NATRUM SULPHURICUM (sodium sulfate), SILICA TERRA (pure flint)

January Oils

The three blends and three singles that were chosen for January were chosen to help us improve ourselves in many ways.

Focus

I like to inhale LeFocus at times when I am studying and need to be extra alert. I also find it useful in the afternoons at the computer if my mind is slow or I am having difficulty concentrating.

LeFocus has much the same uses as LeCrystal Clear and LeIQ, but the aromas of these three blends are very dissimilar. These blends are classic examples of the wide range of plants that can accomplish similar healing tasks in the human body. Each person is unique with their own way of reacting to things. One of these three blends may work better for you and another one may work better for someone else. You may find all of them helpful, giving you the opportunity to choose one according to your preferred aroma.

LeFocus is useful in overcoming negative thought patterns and self-defeating behaviors. These patterns of behavior get in the way of our ability to take responsibility for ourselves. It can also keep us from accomplishing our goals. LeFocus helps us become aware of and change these patterns.

LeLiteN is meant to improve metabolic function, stabilize hormones, and balance blood sugar. A fit and healthy body recovers more quickly and is more disease resistant.  Well-oxygenated cells tend to produce healthy new cells, increasing vigor, stamina, and energy levels.

LeLiteN helps with food cravings and a tendency to snack between meals. LeLiteN is a perfect choice for any situation in which one might turn to food for comfort, encouragement, or a boost of energy. This blend encourages a desire for fitness and vitality and can aid us in developing sufficient energy reserves for the accomplishment of anything that our heart desires.

Consider diffusing LeLiteN in your home or workplace, especially between meals or when feeling tired, worn out, stressed, or discouraged.

During times of transition, we pause and take stock of our goals, wants, and desires, and the oils in LeTransition will support us through tough periods in our life. Stress can have a very negative effect on our body and mind and all the body systems suffer. LeTransition can reset our minds, allowing us to see clarity in the direction we need to go. It was blended with oils that will ground us in the present, clear our mind and allow us to see the present in its truth, and gently open our eyes to the possibilities of the future.

LeTransition should be used anytime we want to nourish our body systems, such as stressful days, illnesses, shock, traumatic experiences, or when feeling run down. Soaking your feet in hot water with 2-3 drops of LeTransition added will gently detoxify your body, and because essential oils contain molecules that help transport nutrients to starving or undernourished cells, it will detoxify and nourish at the same time.

Black PepperBlack Pepper should always be carefully diluted. It is beneficial when applied to the feet and to areas of pain or poor circulation.

Black Pepper contains a significant amount of sesquiterpenes. There are more sesquiterpenes in Black Pepper than there are in Frankincense.

The responsibility of the pericardium meridian is to protect the heart and emotions. Black Pepper has an energizing effect on this meridian, stimulating our inner defenses. This inner strength gives us protection from negative energy and keeps our energy intact and strong. It helps us keep our perspective when surrounded by negativity.

Black Pepper gives a boost to the immune system. It helps maintain stamina and energy because it increases cellular oxygen levels. Black Pepper strengthens the nervous system and stimulates the endocrine glands.

Cedarwood

Cedarwood is an excellent oil for meditation and clarity of mind. It reduces tension and promotes restful sleep. The aroma of Cedarwood can help us realize when we are being self-righteous, rigid, or dogmatic in our opinions.

Cedarwood was used traditionally by the Indian tribes of America to enhance spiritual communication. Like all conifer oils, Cedarwood enhances feelings of security and protection. It helps us to feel, and return, the love of heaven. The aroma of Cedarwood calms anger and relieves nervous tension. It quiets the mind that is going over and over the same details, analyzing, and then analyzing again.

Cedarwood strengthens the energy of the kidney meridian. Strength in this meridian gives us the will to stand firm when we have made a decision, even against persistent opposition. Cedarwood can give us strength in times of crisis as we stand strong, refusing to lose confidence or faith. This is an excellent oil to bolster us when we are going into strange or unfamiliar situations.

Frankincense

Frankincense Frereana has a softer sweeter aroma and is said to be better for emotional applications while other Frankincenses are better for physical applications.

Frankincense has a reputation worldwide for crossing the blood/brain barrier, carrying oxygen and nutrients to the brain. This is an excellent choice for those who are afraid or fear coming changes in their lives. It has been used since ancient times in meditation. Frankincense improves communication between us and our Creator. It provides beneficial effects on respiratory conditions such as cough, bronchitis, and pneumonia.

The keynote of Frankincense Frereana is the calming and centering effect it has on the energy grid of the body. Frankincense Frereana is said to enhance and balance the spiritual aspects of an individual more so than the Carterii or Serrata varieties. It is the Frankincense of choice for religious ceremonies in many Arabic countries. Frankincense Frereana is useful in treating stress, tension, depression, and other nervous disorders.

January Oils

Featured Blend

UnDoneThis is one of those blends that when you need it nothing else is quite the same.  I have often used and love, love, love LeUnDone.

Vetiver—a key ingredient in this blend—is physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically grounding but does NOT have, in my opinion, a pleasant aroma as a single. This blend, so well done synergistically, utilizes some very pleasingly aromatic and healing oils to emphasize the wonderful properties of Vetiver and achieves an astonishingly delightful aroma at the same time (a blending accomplishment I didn’t think could be done with Vetiver until now)!

LeUnDone heals scarring—emotional and physical, inside and out. This blend is useful for any area that has been damaged whether the scarring has occurred on the surface of the body or internally (such as a damaged liver or the trauma sustained from a C-section).

The oils in LeUnDone are considered to be cytophylactics—they regenerate and rebuild tissue. Our amazing bodies are continually replacing old cells with new ones. Unfortunately, when scar tissue has formed, the new cells pattern themselves after the damaged cell structures. LeUnDone encourages new cell growth that is patterned after the original cellular blueprint rather than replicating the damaged pattern.

A physical scar is created when a wound does not heal properly; an emotional scar forms for the same reason. The area of the body that is refusing to relinquish and heal scar tissue can give us clues as to what emotional wounding we may also be hanging onto. The oils comprising this blend address a wide spectrum of emotional issues and can help us reach a level of understanding where further healing can be achieved.

Featured Singles

Helichrysum

If you have never tried Helichrysum you are missing out on one of the greats.

When there are emotional blockages or repetitive behavior patterns as the result of abuse or trauma, Helichrysum can help us discover and remove them. Once these blockages have been removed, we can move on with our lives.

Helichrysum has an affinity for the creative right side of the brain, which our culture and schooling often pushes into the background. Because Helichrysum stimulates this side of the brain, we are able to view our world and make our choices from a more balanced perspective.

Helichrysum is often used in emotional healing. It helps us get in touch with unresolved emotions and gently restores memories that have been deeply buried in the subconscious mind. Helichrysum helps release defense mechanisms and offers comfort while we are processing difficult emotions. Helichrysum promotes a calm acceptance of the changes within ourselves that may result from the processing of emotions and memories. It also helps supply the needed self-confidence to make hard decisions.

It is renowned for its use in the rejuvenation of skin and muscle. It drains congestion and reestablishes blood flow to traumatized areas, helping bruises and hematomas to disperse more quickly. Helichrysum regenerates damaged tissue and can help prevent scarring at the site of an injury. This oil is anti-inflammatory and analgesic, making it excellent for sciatica and arthritis.

Helichrysum is an excellent oil for respiratory conditions and for lymph drainage. It is stimulating to the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and vascular system. Helichrysum, diluted with a carrier oil, has been used in many cultures as sunscreen.

More information is available on this amazing oil regarding growing conditions and the different varieties.  I decided not to include this but you can read about it by clicking here.

Tinctures

Tinctures

Tinctures are herbs preserved in a liquid medium. This preserves the medicinal qualities of the herbs for long periods of time and makes tinctures very convenient to use. As a general rule, alcohol “pulls” more plant constituents than does plain water. Vodka, a mixture of alcohol and water, extracts nearly all of the medicinal properties of herbs. Tinctures can also be made in Glycerin or vinegar. Glycerin is often preferable for children.

Did You Know?

The nutrients provided by herbs assist us in achieving or maintaining optimum health. Even the most common plant contains an astonishing amount of nutrients, and in overwhelmingly large amounts. The preservation of the herb’s volatile oils and healing constituents must be the first consideration as a person utilizes the great blessings of God’s pharmacy to create herbal preparations. Vitamins and minerals—combined with the right kinds of fats—are absolutely essential to healthy bodies and minds.

The lack of certain vitamins and minerals has also been linked to unhealthy (diseased) states of the body and mind. In addition, when a body is well-nourished, it automatically cleanses itself often eliminating allergies and rebuilding nerves and tissues.

Vitamins are powerful substances. We need only microscopic amounts of some of them in our diets to stay healthy. Take away those tiny quantities and our bodies soon run into deep metabolic trouble. The body responds, often very quickly, to improved nutrition. However, herbs are not magic bullets. If nutritional deficiencies are very deep or long-standing, it may take some time to fill that nutritional black hole. Herbs should be consumed consistently. With the use of herbs, nutritional deficiencies are easily preventable in this land of plenty.

Dosage

Inevitably, when talking about herbs, the question arises, “What will happen if I take too much?” The answer is simple. Herbs are nutrition. While you can overdose on an herb you would have to work at it! Herbs are like vegetables. It might be possible to eat more carrots than your body can handle, but it would take serious effort.

What are the warning signs of too much? The first signs will be chilliness or nausea. If you ignore those signs, diarrhea and perhaps vomiting will be the next symptoms. While overdosing on an herb may make you miserable, it is very unlikely you will have done any permanent damage. Ingesting herbs along with meals greatly reduces the chances of any tummy upset created by the herbs themselves.

Alcohol-based tinctures are typically taken 8 to 20 drops at a time added to a swallow or two of water. Glycerites may be taken as much as a teaspoonful at a time. Enjoy your herbal teas just as much and as often as you like—with the notes about overdosing mentioned above. For medicinal purposes, 3 cups of tea per day are recommended.

Supplements

Supplements

It is always best to meet your nutritional needs with the foods you eat.  However, this is not always possible and sometimes we need to fill the gaps with herbs or even supplements.

Not all supplements are created equal however and it is important to get quality vitamins.  One very important thing to look out for with supplements is that they are food or plant-based.  In other words, make sure the nutrients are coming from a natural source and not a laboratory.

For instance, Alpha-tocopherol is the primary form of Vitamin E.  Naturally sourced Vitamin E is labeled as d-alpha-tocopherol, while the synthetically produced form is labeled as dl-alpha-tocopherol.  You will want to make sure to get a d-alpha Vitamin E and not dl-alpha.

Like Vitamin E, most vitamins and supplements have a synthetic version.  Not only are the synthetically made versions not as beneficial, they can actually clog your cells and make it harder for them to absorb the vitamin you just took.  It is always best to stick with naturally sourced Vitamins and Supplements.

Featured Carrier

Palm Carrier OilFractionated Palm Oil is very similar to fractionated Coconut Oil. Both of these oils are inexpensive, absorb quickly, have almost no aroma at all, and have a very long shelf life at room temperature without rancidity.

These carrier oils do not go rancid, even in the summer months! Other advantages of fractionated Palm and Coconut Oils include: odorless and colorless; absorb readily into the skin, leaving no residue; do not stain clothing and easily wash out of clothing and bedding; although absorbing very quickly, liquid coconut oil and palm oil are excellent skin moisturizers; rarely aggravate existing skin problems such as fungal or bacterial infections; do not clog pores.

Palm Oil is even less expensive than Fractionated Coconut Oil, and for topical use, Palm Oil is a great choice. If you are using one of these oils internally for the MCTs, Coconut Oil is said to be slightly healthier.

Featured Kit

Therapy Kit

The Therapy Kit is like a day at the spa! These oils offer you a wonderful opportunity to be completely rejuvenated. A relaxing and soothing introduction progresses to a healing phase of love and peace. Your session is completed with feelings of strength and stability, allowing you to greet the rest of your day with energy and renewed vitality.

The oils in this kit are intended to be placed, in order and diluted well with coconut oil, along the spine with a feathery massage motion. One or two drops of each oil along the spine will ‘warm’ your muscles and help you relax. Please drink plenty of water after your therapy session.  This is a great way to give yourself some self-love.

1st LeMillenia

LeMillenia works on issues of physical structure and alignment (known as a Chiropractor in a bottle), and as an outstanding emotional blend. LeMillenia helps one find the courage to move forward with confidence and faith. It brings clarity about what is really necessary for happiness and contentment.  LeMillenia can help us find an equilibrium between being organized, neat, orderly, meticulous, logical, and analytical and being obsessively focused on perfection. It aids us with self-expression, fear of conflict and disagreement, and the ability to make decisions. LeMillenia can foster tenacity and independence of spirit.

2nd Thyme

Thyme is revitalizing and nourishing to the nerves and emotions. It can help us overcome mental and emotional exhaustion, inability to concentrate,  apathy, and uneasy feelings that have no cause. Thyme can aid us in finding a fresh view of the situation or a new way of doing something. It is specific for physical exhaustion, especially when there seems to be a lack of direction and motivation more than overwork. Thyme can give us strength, self-confidence, and willpower. It can help us think positively, allowing us to give ourselves credit for every little bit of willpower we possess, instead of berating ourselves when we display less of it than we think we should have. Dilute very well.

3rd Basil

Basil helps open the mind to ideas, possibilities, and opportunities. Basil helps us to act with integrity, from our hearts, in a straightforward manner. Emotionally, Basil is both stimulating and soothing. It energizes the mind while, at the same time, relieving doubts and fears and lightening our burdens. Basil moderates a tendency to be too blunt, outspoken, or independent. It is used in treatments for depression, hysteria, nervous tension, and mental fatigue. Basil stimulates the adrenal cortex and strengthens the nerves. Dilute very well.

4th Wintergreen

Wintergreen produces an analgesic, numbing effect on the nerves. It clears obstructions to the flow of blood in the tissues and in the veins and arteries. This increases circulation in general and brings warmth to the area. It relaxes the muscles in the area to which it was applied. As the circulatory system works more efficiently, many health problems are alleviated. Wintergreen increases the activity of the kidneys, preventing toxins, uric acid, fats, and liquids from building up in body tissues. Wintergreen essential oil aids digestion by stimulating the proper secretion of gastric juices and bile. It stimulates the activity of the lungs, intestines, and other organs, preventing the accumulation of congestion and waste materials.
Dilute very well.

5th Marjoram

Marjoram is quieting to obsessive worrying where negative thoughts circle repetitively in the brain hour after hour. This type of obsessive worry is an indication of depleted or stressed earth energy. Marjoram is also helpful for those who seem to love being in the center of some sort of drama all the time. This need for attention is a manifestation of an energetically depleted earth meridian with its “lack of something” perception. In this instance, the feeling of deprivation focuses on family or friends. We are sure that “no one cares” about us as they should. The aroma of Marjoram oil can eliminate feelings of loneliness or persecution, replacing them with feelings of security and even some compassion for others.

6th Cypress

Cypress is a wonderful healer for the spirit. It brings the feeling that each new day is a fresh start on our road to glowing life and health. Change is a part of life. Times of transition can be positive if we allow them to be. If we struggle against the changes, by trying to hang on to what was, our life can feel like an unending struggle. Cypress is considered in many cultures to be symbolic of life after death and guidance from a supreme being. The aroma of Cypress can help to seek guidance and inspiration from heavenly sources and opens us to direction from heaven. It can help soften unbending and inflexible attitudes.

7th Peppermint Piperita

Peppermint oil stimulates the mind, increasing the ability to focus and concentrate. Peppermint is like a rush of fresh energy into the system. It allows us to relax instead of letting anxiety build up in our body or mind. Peppermint oil is specific for people who move between highs and lows, sadness and happiness until the ever-widening mood swings settle into lethargy, intolerance, and frustration. Just as Peppermint strengthens digestion and aids the absorption of nutrients on a physical level, it enhances our ability to “digest” new ideas and impressions. Peppermint oil increases circulation. It is useful for muscle pain. Dilute very well.

8th Oregano

Oregano promotes a feeling of strength and stability. It has strong antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. Oregano balances metabolism strengthens the vital centers of the body, and is an immune stimulant. Oregano is an extremely beneficial and effective oil. Dilute very well. Can cause extreme skin irritation if applied repeatedly without dilution.

9th LeWarmDown

LeWarmDown makes an excellent massage oil. It is an antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory oil. LeWarmDown is an excellent remedy for tight, tired, sore, and aching muscles of any description. It is for sports injuries, muscle strains, sprains, and torn ligaments. LeWarmDown seems to aid calcium absorption and distribution throughout the body. LeWarmDown increases capillary circulation and protects the skin by helping it to retain moisture.

10th LeTendaCare

LeTendaCare has an aroma that is pleasant and light for lifting the mood and clearing the mind. LeTendaCare is a massage oil for tired, overworked muscles, or to help you relax. This blend is analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and has some excellent nervine properties. Besides sports injuries and muscle relaxation, LeTendaCare is often used for back pain.
